Yesterday's routine lasted 60 minutes, focusing on the deltoids, tricepsSural and core, although functional training really covers a lot more and I love that. We started with our usual neuromuscular conditioning, followed by pre-fatigue which included alternating push-up and plank exercises and a series of pyramid back kicks, the push-ups and plank I did on my knees so as not to compromise my foot too much. I love this gym because our trainer is a sensei and always includes karate, taekwondo, boxing, capoeira and other interesting disciplines in the routines.
After finishing this block, came the aerobic and anaerobic part which included 5 minutes jogging and 20 burpees, like the previous day I abstained from jogging and the burpees part I varied it to plyometric squats.
After this we performed a small self-loading circuit on the TRX which included: 50 reps of swimmer's pull, 50 reps of plank with touch to the shoulders and 50 isometric squat heel raises. The execution of these exercises can be seen in the first part of the video. I performed the shoulder press on the floor because I have not yet regained my core strength and this is a very demanding exercise.
To finish we performed a 15 minute circuit that included TRX + Kettlebell in AMRAP mode, you can see in the video the executions. This included the following exercises:
I am proud to have been able to perform all the self-load and overload exercises, for the swing clean I performed a variation towards the Russian swing and both the lateral scissors and the heel raise I performed them at my own pace with very controlled movements always taking care of my stability, for all the overload exercises I used an 11 kilos weight which is very good to start my recovery. At the end of the AMRAP circuit the trainer included a series of animal flow, these are movements that resemble those performed by animals, yesterday we had a series of crawling that you can also see at the end of the video, I could not perform it because it requires a good range of motion of the toes that I have not yet fully recovered.
I hope you liked this training methodology. Thanks for reading and joining me in this process, if you want to see more of these routines you can follow my trainer/sensei at @ baticuevafuncional on instagram. Virtual hug to everyone! 😁
