    About :

So this is the first cleaning post I’m putting up. This is a Colt King Cobra. This revolver was first put into rotation first in 1986 as a medium framed double-action revolver, meaning it can be fired by pulling the trigger and pulling the hammer back manually every time it needs to be fired. It was introduced to law enforcement as a service revolver and caught the eye of gun enthusiasts and was largely carried by detectives as their conceal carry. This gun has been given 2 make overs and has been taken out of production twice once in 1992 and again in 1998. Right now it is still currently in production since 2019.

The first part will show a gun cleaning kit. It’s a little more complete than a lot of beginner kits. You’re not going to need a kit this extensive with only one to a few guns. I have at least 7 and my friend who I am cleaning these for has a few more than I do. Just like in my deer butchering posts explained you don’t need brand name products in order to do the job properly and some cheaper house hold items may even work better. Kano Kroil is the shit and works better than brand name gun oil.

You don't need such an extensive kit to start off with. As you buy more firearms upgrade your cleaning kit as needed, or desired.

    This stuff is the shit!

To start cleaning this sidearm you’re not going to need any tools. Almost all sidearms can be taken apart and cleaned without the use of tools. First things first, of course you want to make sure the firearm is empty of rounds to ensure you don’t spill rounds and you can take your gun apart. A lot of guns (most of them) won’t allow you to open them up or be taken apart until they are unloaded. This is taking the myth and lies of people killing themselves while cleaning their firearms. Nobody says this because it covers the very sensitive subject of suicide. Nobody has accidentally killed themselves while cleaning a gun. They just shot themselves, most likely right after they cleaned the used firearm.

Revolvers are fairly simple and easy to clean. You’re going to used a cleaning patch holder with a ram rod to cleanout the barrel and the cylinders. Dip the cloth in your cleaning solution. Don’t over dip or drip cleaning solution on to your cleaning patch in order not to make a mess. Push the ram rod through the barrel and be careful not to jam it against the firing pin located at the other side of the cylinder.

Repeat this for each housing slot for your ammunition. Repeat with clean clean patches until there is no more dirt and grime. If you can’t seem to get them clean you can loosely stuff a patch or cut up pieces of patch and push them through with a ram rod in order to create more pressure against the walls. Use a patch or cloth with your chosen cleaning solution to wipe the front and back of the cylinder as well as the housing area for the cylinder.

Scrub in the spaces behind and in front of the hammer of the revolver with a brush and wipe with a clean patch or cloth. When the gun is clean go back with a cloth and give the whole gun a nice wipe and shine over. If you need to oil moving parts do so with a saturated cloth very lightly, you down want the oil to run or drip from the area you need oiled up.
