It is a great pleasure to present you Sorel Diabate, a great percussionist, guitar player and composer. We share this songs for 3Speak content creation
You can get Diabate music directly on https://www.amazon.fr/Balablues/dp/B010MZZF52
But I'm trying to convince him to join Decentralization, HIVE, 3Speak and DTube. Many great musicians need to join Hive or even Steemit
The griot (or djeli, djéli or even jali in mandinka; or kevel or kewel in serère; or gewel in wolof), also called bard, is a person who officiates as a traditional communicator in West Africa. The term malinké djèliya means "activity of the djéli", in other words all the activities of the djéli; it could also denote “transmission by blood”, it designates griotism. Among the Wolofs, griotism will be designated approximately by ngéweul. Griotism is the science generally reserved for a group of men and women united by blood ties. Djéliya has its root in the Malinke word djéli which means "blood" and which is also the name given to griots in the countries which delimit the former Empire of Mali or Mandingo. In Mauritania, the warriors who colonized the country were inspired by Mandingo griotism and created a caste, the iggawen whose function and social organization is very close to that of the djelilu.
There are some exceptions to this hereditary caste constitution: in Nyanga country in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the bards called She-Karisi or Mwami do not belong to any specific clan1. In Mali and in the other countries of West Africa, alongside the hereditary Mandingo griots or djélilu, there is a group of bards, the Soraw, belonging to the brotherhood of hunters and responsible for singing their praises or their epics.
