The Candelaria Cenotes of Huehuetenango is a hidden gem that consists of crystal clear water pools connected by a series of underground rivers.
It is located in the department of Nenton, Huehuetenango, in Guatemala.
Part of the natural wonder of these cenotes is that the color of the water depends on the season. Depending on the season, the color of the water will change, usually between blue, turquoise or green.
The colors can also vary depending on the time of day while the water level is not always the same either; it can go down or up depending on the winds. They are about 30 meters deep. These impressive details make the cenotes not just a tourist destination and make it a mystical and unique natural paradise so much so that the cenotes are considered sacred waters for the natives of the place.
To get there you will need a 4x4 wheel drive car, it´s about 1 hour our driving into the mountains on a dirt road without any pavement, but the virginity of this place makes the exhausting ride totally worth it.
