The Village People

If you have a thing for the Australian accent but can't make it all the way down under, then you might want to give Whistler BC a try. This place is so unique that you'd think you've gone to happy land. Everywhere you look you see the cheery happy faces of tourists who come in droves to enjoy the winter season (though the rest of the seasons are also great). It's full of Australians because the two governments have an agreement that makes it easy for adventurous Aussies to spend a season or two working and playing in the mountains of British Columbia. Is there a more fun happy-go-lucky group of people out there than the Aussies? I don't think so, mate.

Imagine getting on top of a snowy icy slippery mountain. I mean, you need a machine to get you up there and then basically you have to throw yourself over the side of that mountain and get down. There is a point of no return when you're about to descend. It's either down or try to crawl back up the mountain or be rescued by the ski patrol. It's dangerous, especially if you're a novice. But once you're up there, and then you're sliding down, just gliding over the smooth snow, the trees passing by, the sound of snow under your board or skis. Forget about it! Pure bliss.

Then you make it down right into the village. As you can see from the photographs, the ski runway finishes right beside it. Very convenient. After spending so much kinesthetic energy, you come in for a soft landing. You'll be famished. So, you can grab a quick bite to eat, something to drink, then head back up that mountain and do it over again.
