I was on my way walking uphil along a trail when I noticed an unusual flight of many butterflies above the vegetation, as if they were in a flight exhibit. I halted for a while to further observe what causes these butterflies to behave that way until I found out that they are swarming on an uprooted lantana plant that I pulled up to clear the path. It's my first time seeing such a scenario, so I took a few photos and made some videos to capture this fascinating natural occurence. Then I resumed my walk, going uphil, and my thoughts remained at the swarms of butterflies as the scene raised my curiosity.
Upon reaching my destination, I immediately browsed on my phone while bringing my feet to rest and read that butterflies swarm to mate as well as to extract nutrients and minerals that are absorbed by the object they are perching onto.I also read that some species puddle onto mud to extract sodium compounds deposited onto the mud for their nourishment. Lastly, I was able to zero in on the species of the butterflies I saw, and they are common crow (Euploea core) and glassy tiger (Parantica aglea) butterfly species.
With their lovely looks and graceful flight movements, butterflies are like real-life fairies that dwell in the forest and meadows, hence the title of this composition.
Thanks for reading and watching my humble content. Have a nice day, everyone!
