Significado de la Hallaca.

Hola estimada familia de @espavlog, el video que comparto con ustedes el día de hoy, fue grabado hace 2 días pero por los problemas con la conexión de internet, ha sido muy difícil publicarlo. No obstante, se trata de todos aquellos detalles que hacen de la hallaca, el mejor plato navideño en nuestro país; un tema abordado desde mi óptica personal, dado que al realizar las hallacas en mi casa, se me hizo imposible ser abordado por un cúmulo de sentimientos que afloran de manera natural en estas fechas. Para aquellos amigos hivers que hayan perdido recientemente algún familiar, saben muy bien a lo que me refiero.

Hello dear family of @espavlog, the video that I share with you today, was recorded 2 days ago but due to problems with the internet connection, it has been very difficult to publish it. However, it is about all those details that make the hallaca, the best Christmas dish in our country; a topic addressed from my personal point of view, since when making hallacas in my house, it was impossible for me to be addressed by an accumulation of feelings that arise naturally at this time of the year. For those hivers friends who have recently lost a family member, you know very well what I mean.

Con el cambio cultural que se ha traído consigo el la pandemia del COVID-19, ahora vemos las cosa de manera distinta; y aunque lamentamos la pérdida de familiares y seres queridos, también apreciamos la importancia de compartir con los que siguen con nosotros, en este camino de la vida. Al elaborar este plato tradicional, llegan a mi mente diversos recuerdos y me invaden sentimientos que entremezclan nostalgia y alegría. De igual manera, al momento de degustar las ricas hallacas (mis primeras del año jajaja), es inevitable sentir la presencia de mi madre, abuelas y abuelos; pilares de mi niñez y quienes sembraron esta tradición en la familia.

With the cultural change brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, we now see things differently; and while we mourn the loss of family and loved ones, we also appreciate the importance of sharing with those who are still with us on this journey of life. As I prepare this traditional dish, various memories come to my mind and I am overcome with feelings that mix nostalgia and joy. Likewise, when tasting the delicious hallacas (my first of the year hahaha), it is inevitable to feel the presence of my mother, grandmothers and grandfathers; pillars of my childhood and who sowed this tradition in the family.

El espacio vacío, se ve repleto con la presencia de mi padre y mis hijos, que junto a mis sobrinos darán continuidad a la elaboración de esta deliciosa comida navideña, en la cual nos reunimos para seguir dando vida y honrando a nuestras raíces. Los venezolanos somos un poco parecidos a la hallaca, por la amplia mezcla de ingredientes y sabores que la hacen, el plato típico de la época decembrina por excelencia. Y más allá de lo deliciosas que son, su principal ingrediente es el calor de hogar, el amor que le pone cada miembro del equipo familiar en su elaboración, hace que sea mucho más que solo una comida.

The empty space is filled with the presence of my father and my children, who together with my nephews and nieces will continue the elaboration of this delicious Christmas meal, in which we gather to continue giving life and honoring our roots. Venezuelans are a bit similar to the hallaca, because of the wide mix of ingredients and flavors that make it the typical dish of the Christmas season par excellence. And beyond how delicious they are, their main ingredient is the warmth of home, the love that each member of the family team puts into their preparation, makes it much more than just a meal.

Es sencillamente delicioso, cuando combinamos los sabores de las ciruelas pasas y las ricas aceitunas rellenas; el contraste de lo dulce con lo acido dentro del guiso, se convierte en un manjar de dioses jajaja. Las alcaparras también aportan lo suyo, al igual como las zanahorias y demás aliños, que le dan el toque especial lleno de sabor.

It is simply delicious, when we combine the flavors of the prunes and the rich stuffed olives; the contrast of sweet and sour in the stew, becomes a delicacy of gods hahaha. The capers also contribute their own, as well as the carrots and other seasonings, which give it the special touch full of flavor.

En mi caso, me tocó la actividad de amarrar, algo que no es tan fácil, pero con la práctica se avanza rápido jajaja. Fue emocionante la espera hasta que estuvieron listas, las dejamos reposar y al deshojar la primera hallaca, me invadieron sentimientos de alegría y nostalgia. Sin embargo lo más importante es la unión en familia y el acto de dar las gracias a Dios por permitirnos estar juntos; y como dice mi hermano @omarcitorojas, la salud es lo primero; así que es otro motivo más para agradecer a nuestro creador y a esta maravillosa plataforma que es @hive, complementada con @3speak, para poder compartir nuestras experiencias acá en la comunidad de @espavlog.

In my case, I was in charge of the tying activity, something that is not so easy, but with practice you advance quickly hahaha. It was exciting to wait until they were ready, we let them rest and when I unwrapped the first hallaca, I was overcome with feelings of joy and nostalgia. However the most important thing is the family togetherness and the act of thanking God for allowing us to be together; and as my brother @omarcitorojas says, health comes first; so it is another reason to thank our creator and this wonderful platform that is @hive, complemented with @3speak, to share our experiences here in the community of @espavlog.
