My Favorite Action Film: Kill Bill Volumen I & II

Back again in this prestigious community, on the occasion of participating in the contest about our favorite action movie; first of all I greet our friends @jcrodriguez, @bigcarrillo and @joheredia21, who make up the vanguard team. When I read on twitter the announcement of the contest, I did not hesitate to make my contribution and participate, although it is somewhat difficult to select a single film, in view of the breadth of film productions that represent the genre. However, this is the right occasion to refer once again to this film, which tops my personal list in this regard.

De vuelta nuevamente por esta prestigiosa comunidad, en ocasión de participar gratamente en el concurso sobre nuestra película de acción favorita; en primer lugar saludo a nuestros amigos @jcrodriguez, @bigcarrillo y @joheredia21, quienes conforman el equipo de vanguardia. Cuando leí en twitter el enunciado del concurso, no dudé en hacer mi aporte y participar, aunque resulta algo difícil seleccionar una sola cinta, en vista de la amplitud de producciones cinematográficas que representan al género. Sin embarbo, es propicia la ocasión para referirme nuevamente a este film que encabeza mi lista personal al respecto.

I have always liked female-led plots, because they combine fragility and become perfect assassins; Uma Thurman is one of my favorite actresses and she fulfills the above mentioned precepts; She embodies the beautiful and deadly Beatrix Kiddo in the historic film "Kill Bill", a production that amalgamates top quality ingredients, such as its excellent cast, luxurious scenery, a plot or concept of the story, which simply surrounds us and the masterful musical selection that transports the viewer to the place of the events hahaha.

Siempre me han gustado las tramas lideradas por féminas, porque ellas combinan fragilidad y se convierten en perfectas asesinas; Uma Thurman es de mis actrices favoritas y cumple con los preceptos mencionados; ella encarna a la hermosa y mortal Beatrix Kiddo en la histórica película “Kill Bill”, una producción que amalgama ingredientes de primera calidad, como lo son su excelente reparto actoral, escenografías de lujo, una trama o concepto de la historia, que sencillamente nos envuelve y la magistral selección musical que transporta al espectador, al lugar de los acontecimientos jajaja.

And if that wasn't enough, this masterful work of art gives us a script of a thousand wonders, its dialogues are fantastic. The characters, not to mention, in the video I comment on the feasibility of making a separate film of each one due to the back story that surrounds them. Quentin is kind in the extreme with the amount of blood dispensed and the arrangements to combine martial arts with the millenary culture of katanas. So when watching the Kill Bill saga (I see both installments as one), I visualize a tribute to old school cinema.

Y por si fuese poco, esta magistral obra de arte nos regala un guion de las mil maravillas, sus diálogos son fantásticos. Los personajes ni hablar, en el video les comento sobre la factibilidad de hacer una película por separado, de cada uno debido a la historia detrás que los rodea. Quentin es bondadoso en extremo con la cantidad de sangre dispensada y los arreglos para combinar las artes marciales con la milenaria cultura de las katanas. De modo que al ver la saga de Kill Bill (Ambas entregas las veo como una sola), visualizo un tributo al cine de la vieja escuela.

Ni hablar del vestuario de la “Mamba Negra” recordando al más grande artista marcial del cine, como lo es Bruce Lee, pero además rescata la imagen del mítico personaje del maestro Pai Mei, el poderoso y cruel loto blanco que “a su manera”, le enseña a Beatrix las técnicas necesarias para llevar a cabo su misión. Entonces al contemplar a la bella Uma, blandiendo una espada personalizada, cortesía del mismo Hattori Hanzo y totalmente decidida a tomar venganza de sus particulares verdugos; no hago más que prepararme una ración doble de cotufas y disfrutar.

But beyond being a simple revenge movie, I see a heroine different from the conventional ones, one who suffers to the extreme all possible punishments and more. Although in every difficulty she falls down, she gets up again and proves that her determination is stronger than any adversity. And if she manages to always look beautiful and unscarred, I'm not going to argue with the director of the film for that hahaha. So we have a compendium of factors that make Kill Bill great, especially the villains, played to perfection by Lucy Liu, Daryl Hannah, Vivica Fox and Chiaki Kuriyama.

Pero más allá de ser una simple película de venganza, veo a una heroína distinta a las convencionales, una que sufre al extremo todos los castigos posibles y más. Aunque en cada dificultad se cae, ella vuelve a levantarse y demuestra que es más fuerte su determinación, que cualquier adversidad. Y si ella se las arregla para estar siempre hermosa y sin cicatrices, no voy a discutir con el director del filme por eso jajaja. Así que tenemos un compendio de factores que engrandecen a Kill Bill, sobre todo las villanas, encarnadas a la perfección por Lucy Liu, Daryl Hannah, Vivica Fox y Chiaki Kuriyama.

Added to this is the figure of the great David Carradine, in the role of the villain and Beatrix's main target "Bill". Anyway, for these and many more reasons, this Tarantino's masterpiece is my favorite in the genre, because it combines beauty, artistic richness, unforgettable characters, memorable scenes and dialogues and the particle way of doing justice, of a woman who became strong before every enemy, before every punishment and before every adversity. A ello se le suma la figura del gran David Carradine, en el rol del villano y principal objetivo de Beatrix “Bill”. En fin, por estas y muchas razones más, esta obra maestra de Tarantino es mi preferida en el género, porque combina belleza, riqueza artística, personajes inolvidables, escenas y diálogos memorables y la partículas manera de hacer justicia, de una mujer que se hizo fuerte ante cada enemigo, ante cada castigo y ante cada adversidad.
