I woke up this morning (Friday) and, surprisingly, I was humming a tune. Strange, right? Yea, for Ksam, it is somehow strange.
After few minutes of trying to figure out where I heard this beautiful tune from, viola! I got my answers!
"Lord you are the Most High," a song by the Nigerian artist Flavour and Semah G. Weifur, who is a Liberian born blind singer.
The funny thing is that while the song is obviously a Gospel song, the main musician in question, Flavour, isn't a Gospel artist. In fact, he sang a song that was nearly censored due to the "corruptness" of the song (lol).
So, this got me thinking....
Why should a Secular artist venture into singing Gospel music? Can this "gospel" music be sung in the Church? In fact, does this music qualify as Gospel music simply because it extols the greatness of God?
"Lord you are the Most High", una canción del artista nigeriano Flavour y Semah G. Weifur, una cantante ciega nacida en Liberia.
So many questions were left unanswered. However, in as much as we cannot be 100% certain about his intentions, if its for praising God or something else, one thing is certain: The song expresses the yearning of one who seeks to extol God's greatness, and who finds time to always worship God amidst his unique schedule and lifestyle.
Why do I say this?
In the second verse, Flavour gives a list of activities during the week comprising his workout schedule, Studio session, chilling/fun activities, performing shows and praising God. Yet, he singles out the latter as that which is his best.
In as much as many may argue that it isn't a genuine way to worship God, that you should worship God everyday of your life (which is absolutely correct), I still believe that everyone is different, and God isn't a "mechanical God". He understands each and everyone of us; he knows our personal struggles and how we constantly yearn for him in the midst of our sinful state.
God will never push away anyone who worships Him with a humble and sincere heart. He understands our weaknesses and he'd give us the strength and grace to fight them off; individually and together as we help each other in this race of Salvation.
So I tried to shock some people like @hopestylist, @jessicaossom, @nathcy, @wizj... and @onos-f including his twin brother in crime @jesus-son (lol).
Yea, I can't sing but I still want to shock them, since I don't want them to predict me.
I decided to sing this piece to the God I worship, to extol His greatness and give him thanks as it should be.
Don't laugh too much oooo
Also, that Igbo sentence was too long and I forgot the line, please don't laugh... (lol).
I hope you enjoy this piece and are blessed by this piece.
No te rías demasiado oooo
Here is the lyrics for those interested
Lord, you are the most high
Halloweth be thy name
You tell me say make I no worry
That everything’s gonna be okay
You are the father to the fatherless The miracle working God
You make the blind man to see
You make the cripple man to walk
You are the lily of Galilee
You make the impossible possible
I woke up strong on a Monday
I go to gym on a Tuesday
Then to the studio on Wednesday
I work it out till Thursday morning
I be chilling on Friday
I play some shows on Saturday
If you ask me what my best day is
Its when I praise you on Sunday morning
Aga ma turu gi mma mma (I will give you praise)
Mu na ezi n’ulom u ga na e to gi oh (My family and I will continue to worship you)
Makana chi anyi di mma (because our God is good)
Halloweth be thy name
