El sabio Salomón escribió en el libro de proverbios capítulo 21, versículos 25-26: “El perezoso quiere de todo, lo que no quiere es trabajar. El hombre honrado siempre da y no pide nada a cambio.”

Había una vez, en una tierra lejana vivía un comerciante honesto y trabajador, su principal negocio era la sal. Tenía un caballo que siempre estaba ideando como eludir su trabajo que consistía en trasportar la sal que el comerciante llevaba a vender en los pueblos cercanos.

Un día, el caballo como siempre estaba holgazaneando a la sombra de un frondoso árbol. Cuando se acercó el comerciante a cargar sobre su lomo un pedido de sal que debía entregar.

Hola, dijo el comerciante. ¿Me permites cargar estos sacos de sal que debo entregar sobre tu lomo?

El caballo lo miró y de mala gana respondió:

Estoy descansando, me siento agotado de la travesía de ayer. ¿Por qué debo trabajar siempre?

Y continuó replicando el caballo: Desearía dormir todo el día, pero ¡No! Debo cargar esos sacos de sal sobre mi lomo y moverme, siempre voy de aquí para allá.

El comerciante sonrió, paciente y procedió a acomodar los sacos de sal sobre su holgazán amigo. Una vez listos los sacos sobre el lomo del caballo, le dijo:

¡Vamos, caballo! Comienza a caminar que tenemos mucho camino por delante, cruza el puente y mientras tanto buscaré algo de comida.

El caballo con mala cara y arrastrando sus patas comenzó a caminar con toda la lentitud del mundo hacia el puente y comenzó a cruzarlo cuando de pronto se resbaló y cayó al agua. Como los sacos estaban llenos de sal, esta al mojarse comenzó a disolverse. Viendo esto, el caballo nuevamente comenzó a caminar antes que él y llegó hasta el puente. Cuando estaba en la mitad, se detuvo y pensó:

Caballo, éste es tu trabajo, yo soy tu dueño, Yo trabajo muy duro y me gusta lo que hago. No busco excusas ni engaño a nadie para evadir mis responsabilidades, espero que hayas aprendido la lección. Ven para quitarte ese peso que no te deja caminar, sabes que nunca pondría sobre ti una carga mayor de la que puedas transportar.

Desde ese día en adelante, el caballito nunca más intentó evadir su trabajo ni sus responsabilidades. Se convirtió en el mejor compañero del comerciante.

Mi gente, así existen muchas personas en el mundo que la flojera los lleva a cometer actos de deshonestidad y fraudes. No hay nada mejor en la vida que hacer su trabajo bien, eso siempre da buenos resultados.

A todo el que es perezoso en algún momento le costará ese tiempo que perdió, y recuerda: el tiempo no se recupera, debemos aprovercharlo al máximo.

But he only succeeded in getting the absorbent cotton soaked more and more, increasing its weight. As best he could, he got out of the water and with great difficulty began to cross the bridge, his back was aching from the weight he was carrying.

My people, there are many people in the world whose laziness leads them to commit acts of dishonesty and fraud. There is nothing better in life than doing your job well, that always gives good results.

Everyone who is lazy will at some point cost him that time he lost, and remember: time cannot be recovered, we must make the most of it.
