In this episode of the LEO Show, I covered my thoughts on Hive now and in the future. I gave a few of the reasons as to why I believe Hive can achieve the mission of being the gateway to crypto that Steem was always meant to be, but didn't have the means and motivation to accomplish.

Q1: What is HIVE to you?

A Clean Slate.

I’ve been on Steem for over 3 years. To me, Hive is the Steem communities process of shedding the deadweight of Steemit, Inc., Ned and the false promises that he continued to send our way.

Q2: What do you want to see HIVE evolve into?

What Hive already is — what Steem should have been - a decentralized project that is primarily run by the community.
- An active community of ACTUAL users — not many blockchains have nearly the number of daily users. Just check Stateofthedapps.com to see just how powerful this user base is compared to the rest of the space
What Hive can become — Hive can evolve and innovate rapidly. To me, Hive can become the gateway to crypto that Steem was always intended to be. Onboard the masses to real applications that have real value in their every day life.

Q3: What do you think about having a large funded DAO for future HIVE development?

I think the Steem community & blockchain had always been reliant on Steemit, Inc. to spearhead not only development itself, but development costs and project scopes. With a decentralized autonomous funding mechanism, Hive’s potential to innovate is exponentially greater than Steem ever was under centralized leadership.

More funding as the value of the chain increases (HIVE price increases = more $ value of dev funds)
A Decentralized funding mechanism is more attractive to prominent developers in the crypto space
Community-wisdom — the community actually uses the product (the applications of Hive) and I have always believed that if Steemit’s leadership had actually used their own product, we would have seen better innovation and tools released to increase the end user experience

Q4: What does HIVE mean to you?

This is the most passionate group of people that I have ever met. It’s also a group of extremely intelligent and talented people who can get shit done. Look no further than the creation of Hive for proof of that.

To me, Hive is the best of what Steem had to offer — community, passion and creativity.

Steem was held down by the deadweight of its centralized ~~dictator~~ creator: Ned & Steemit. After Steemit was taken over by someone even worse and became Justin & Steemit, the tides changed for the worse. Now that we are free of both, I think Hive has kept the best of what Steem had to offer and left most of the negatives behind.

There’s still debate. There’s still in-fighting.. but that’s the result of passion. Everyone has a vision for Hive and Hive means something that is slightly different to each individual who calls it their “digital home”. This combined with the fact that we have a format that allows everyone to have a voice and a say in where the ship goes (i.e. the Decentralized Autonomous Funding mechanism) is what makes Hive so special.
