Evil Within - Review

Hello you very warmly, today I would like to talk about the game Evil Within, published by the well-known studio Berhesda, and the game itself is a combination of Saw and Inception.

The game was released in 2014, unfortunately you can see that it has aged worse. In places, the character can get stuck, or go through stones as through water. The game itself is quite innovative. The creator of Resident Evil 4 decides to create something different. Some will say that it is another milestone in survival horror, others will complain about too intensive mechanics.

The game will last us for about 7-8 hours, but because it is very linear we shouldn't expect much. The game is very brutal, so associations with the Saw series are very appropriate. I passed the game some time ago and I throw in a short gameplay for you to see the title for yourself. The game itself is quite interesting, of course, sometimes it has huge holes in the story, but everything works together, so we get a crazy, bloody and strange story. In the game we control the actions of Sebastian, a detective, who together with his partner is investigating mysterious murders.

When they reach the designated place (hospital) they see a real massacre, and the nightmare begins when the prick of a needle suddenly takes us to a completely different and crazy world. It's a game that combines our world with delusions, but delusions can be deadly for Sebastian. Evil Within is not for everyone, there is no typical fear, because all the time the protagonist is bombarded with more monsters, and there is no specific atmosphere like in Outlast.

Game gives us some improvements and from time to time we can upgrade our character so that he will fight better.
The gameplay mechanics is similar to the one we knew well in Resident Evil 4 with the famous mistakes that we can't run while shooting. The game itself is like a crazy nightmare that Sebastian has to go through.

The finale itself is so strange, it's hard to say it's a masterpiece, it's even hard to say it's a good game, it's more like an intriguing horror that will disgust the viewer, but not scare them. In the second part, many flaws have been repaired, including the addition of a light horror atmosphere, so it is better, but in this part we have a true apocalypse and sometimes it is difficult to keep up with everything that is happening around. I rate the game at 7/10, probably it would be more if it wasn't for the intensity and lack of a second of rest and our hero is thrown from a nightmare which is getting worse and worse.

The game obviously draws heavily from movies and books, and the bosses are created in such a way that they immediately bring to our mind a character from a belief or a famous movie, which is of course a plus. If you feel like it, it is currently available for free at gamepass and it is worth trying this title out for yourself, even playing in a browser.
