    Letra

    Amarillo de su mango
    Azul de su litoral
    Con rojo de sol poniente
    Pincelaba al despertar

    Cuando estaba pequeñito
    Miró las mariposas volar
Y aprendió a amar los colores
    Con amor supo pintar

    Reverón titiritero
    Reverón el muñequero
    Reverón pintor del pueblo
    Con pinceladas de sueños
    Reverón titiritero
    Reverón el muñequero
    Se quedo juana la gorda
    Ya no sirve de modelo

    La desnudez de un delirio
    Te la pagaban con ron
    Cuando vivo no valías
    De bellas artes ni hablar

    Hoy llevan del castillete
    Cuadros para el gran salón
    Te codeas con el greco
    Con picasso y con renoir

    Reverón titiritero
    Reverón el muñequero
    Se quedo juana la gorda
    Ya no sirve de modelo
    Reverón titiritero
    Reverón el muñequero
    Reverón pintor del pueblo
    Con pinceladas de sueños

    Las cosas de mi país
    ¿Hasta cuando pasarán?
    Que dirá bárbaro rivas
Yo no le he compuesto na'

    El día que tu partiste
    Hubo tambores en el lugar
De tus ojos encontraron tus muñecas
Vestidas color fiesta de San Juan

    Reverón titiritero
    Reverón el muñequero
    Reverón pintor del pueblo
    Con pinceladas de sueños
    Reverón titiritero
    Reverón el muñequero
    Se quedo juana la gorda
    Ya no sirve de modelo

    Reverón titiritero
    Reverón el tamborero
    Reverón pintor del pueblo
    Con pinceladas de sueños.

    Hive Open Mic WEEK 163 / Reveron / @jetta.amaya (Spanish/English)

Love greetings to all my Hive friends, I hope you all have a great Monday. I love to start the week with music, so I am fortunate to be on the big open mic stage, this time participating with the theme of week 163 which is "Passion for Art" and I find it appropriate and beautiful, since that passion is what brings us all together in this warm space every week.

It seemed to me that a timely song for this theme is "Reverón" a composition of the Venezuelan singer-songwriter Ali Primera, published in the album "Canción mansa para un pueblo bravo" in 1978. Armando Reverón, also known as "El Loco de Macuto" was a Venezuelan plastic artist, recognized as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century in the American continent. Precisely on May 10, the date on which this extraordinary artist was born, we celebrate in Venezuela the National Day of the Plastic Artist, because Reverón is not just any character, he is a symbol of passion and madness for art.

The lyrics of this song briefly capture all the beauty of the life and work of Loco Reverón, his way of seeing the world and colors, what he had to face because he did not fit into the hegemonic parameters of thought and social behavior, especially in the artistic milieu that at the time belonged to the most powerful elites. Well, this is a small tribute to all of us who, as the Venezuelan writer Aquiles Nazoa would say, believe in the creative powers of the people.

I hope you like my humble version of this transcendental song. I bid you farewell until next time.

    Lyrics

    Yellow of its mango
    Blue of its coastline
With the red of the setting sun
I painted when I woke up

    When he was little
    He watched the butterflies fly
    And learned to love colors
With love he knew how to paint

    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón painter of the people
    With brushstrokes of dreams
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Juana the fat woman
No longer serves as a model

    The nakedness of a delirium
    They paid you with rum
When you were not worth living
Of fine arts not to speak

Today they take from the castillete
    Paintings for the great hall
You rub shoulders with El Greco
    With Picasso and Renoir

    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Juana the fat woman
    She's no longer a model
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón painter of the people
    With brushstrokes of dreams

    The things of my country
How long will they go on?
    What will barbaro rivas say
I haven't composed anything for him

    The day you left
There were drums in the place
From your eyes they found your dolls
Dressed in the color of the feast of San Juan

    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón painter of the people
    With brushstrokes of dreams
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón the puppeteer
    Juana the fat woman
No longer serves as a model

    Reverón the puppeteer
    Reverón the drummer
    Reverón painter of the people
    With brushstrokes of dreams.
