A Delicious Repertoire of Venezuelan Sacred Music [Eng-Esp]

Hello friends Hivers! Once again I come to this incredible musical community to tell you and show you a little of what was my experience in a concert of Venezuelan Sacred Music where I felt like family for several reasons. For me, music has healing power, and for some months now it has helped me to heal my soul, and even though I spent all this concert walking through all the corners of the church to be able to record the videos, I felt renewed with what happened artistically.

¡Hola amigos Hivers!. Nuevamente paso por esta increíble comunidad musical para relatarles y mostrarles un poco de lo que fue mi experiencia en un Concierto de Música Sacra Venezolana donde me sentí en familia por diversas razones. Para mí, la música tiene poder sanatorio, y desde hace unos meses me ha ayudado para sanar mi alma, y a pesar de que pasé todo este concierto paseando por todos los rincones de la iglesia para poder grabar los videos, me sentí renovado con lo que ocurrió artísticamente.

This event was held very close to my home, at the Divina Pastora Church in the city of Caracas. It was conducted by Maestro Sadao Muraki and the groups that performed were the Caracas Municipal Symphony Orchestra and the Polyphony Choir. The magic of this concert is that only Venezuelan sacred music was presented, we, the musicians of my country, always sing the great works of the world and many times we are unaware of the quality work that has been done here, by our great composers.

Este evento se realizó muy cerca de mi casa, en la Iglesia La Divina Pastora de la ciudad de Caracas. Fue dirigido por el Maestro Sadao Muraki y las agrupaciones que se presentaron fueron la Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Caracas y la Coral Polifonía. La magia de este concierto es que solo se presentó música sacra venezolana, nosotros mismos los músicos de mi país siempre cantamos las grandes obras del mundo y muchas veces desconocemos el trabajo de calidad que se ha realizado aquí, por nuestros grandes compositores.

The works that were played have the seal of Venezuelan and export quality, and no wonder. It consisted of 7 pieces and 5 composers and were the following: 1. Recordare by Evencio Castellanos, 2. Ave Verum by Vicente Emilio Sojo, 3. Pater Noster, 4. Beata Est Virgo Maria, 5. Despedida al Nazareno (these three by José Montero), 6. Qualis Est by Pedro Colón, 7. Reddme Mihi by José Ángel Lamas.

Las obras que sonaron tienen el sello de calidad venezolana y de exportación, y no es para menos. Constó de 7 piezas y 5 compositores y fueron las siguientes: 1. Recordare de Evencio Castellanos, 2. Ave Verum de Vicente Emilio Sojo, 3. Pater Noster, 4. Beata Est Virgo Maria, 5. Despedida al Nazareno (estas tres de José Montero), 6. Qualis Est de Pedro Colón, 7. Reddme Mihi de José Ángel Lamas.

Among the soloists were people known to me from the Caracas musical milieu. Soprano Cristina Núñez, Mezzo Soprano Amelia Salazar, Baritone Abraham Camacho and Tenor Jesús Herrera sang, the latter is my String Chief in La Coral, an artist I admire very much and also a great person and friend, he was the other reason why I felt so familiar with this concert, besides being close to home.

Entre los solistas había personas conocidas para mí por encontrarme en el medio musical caraqueño. Cantaron la Soprano Cristina Núñez, la Mezzo Soprano Amelia Salazar, el Barítono Abraham Camacho y el Tenor Jesús Herrera, este último es mi Jefe de Cuerda en La Coral, un artista que admiro mucho y además una gran persona y amigo, él fue el otro motivo por el cual sentí tan familiar este concierto, además de ser cerca de casa.

Every day you learn something new, and this day was special, not only to share music among friends, but to learn more about the Venezuelan repertoire. I love what I do and I love my work, it is a great passion to follow closely every event that nurtures my musical career, whether I participate in it or not. Todos los días se aprende algo nuevo, y este día fue especial, no solo por compartir música entre amigos, sino por conocer más del repertorio venezolano. Amo lo que hago y amo mi trabajo, es una pasión muy grande seguir de cerca cada evento que nutre mi carrera musical, sea o no participe de ello.
