Our Singing Children of Venezuela | Eng-Esp | Nuestros Niños Cantores de Venezuela

Hello friends. It's always a pleasure for me to write for the Q-Inspired community. A site that I find totally welcoming to express myself and share my most recent musical anecdotes. I always rave about my dream job. For years I pursued my personal goal of belonging to the professional choral music ensemble in Venezuela and I finally achieved it in 2017, which has brought for me important moments and experiences that are worth gold and nourish my soul, and I tell you this because it is not very easy to join this ensemble that although it is based in Caracas, is made up of artists from all corners of Venezuela. Generally we all begin our careers as music students of the National System of Orchestras and Choirs, which has multiple nuclei in each of the Venezuelan states and being of age and being musically prepared you can audition for the different professional orchestras and choirs here in the capital.

¡Hola amigos!. Siempre es grato para mí escribir para la comunidad Q-Inspired. Un sitio que encuentro totalmente acogedor para expresarme y compartir mis anécdotas musicales más recientes. Siempre hablo maravillas de mi trabajo de ensueño. Por años perseguí mi meta de personal de pertenecer a la agrupación profesional de música coral en Venezuela y finalmente lo logré en 2017, lo que ha traído para mí importantes momentos y experiencias que valen oro y nutren mi alma, y les cuento esto porque no es muy fácil ingresar a esta agrupación que aunque tiene sede en Caracas, está conformada por artistas de todos los rincones de Venezuela. Generalmente todos comenzamos nuestra carrera como estudiantes de música de El Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros, que tiene múltiples núcleos en cada uno de los estados venezolanos y ya siendo mayor de edad y estando musicalmente preparado de puede audicionar para las diferentes orquestas y coros profesionales acá en la capital.

Of course, we singers don't become professionals overnight. Among the programs of El Sistema there is a wonderful project called Los Niños Cantores de Venezuela, and we are very closely linked to them. For example, this very week we are going to perform Hector Berlioz's Te Deum. An apotheosic choral symphonic work with a double choir of adults and a third children's choir. Today we have a general rehearsal with these great little musicians. But to stay on topic, many of my colleagues in lyrical singing come from the children singers, so it is a good training school that just celebrated its 15 year anniversary in style at the Centro Nacional de Acción Social por la Música in Caracas. We, the Simon Bolivar National Choir, were in charge of opening their concert and at the end we joined them in a beautiful common song.

Por supuesto los cantantes no nos hacemos profesionales de la noche a la mañana. Entre los programas de El Sistema existe un proyecto maravilloso que son Los Niños Cantores de Venezuela, y vaya que estamos muy vinculados a ellos. Por ejemplo, esta misma semana vamos a interpretar el Te Deum de Héctor Berlioz. Una apoteósica obra sinfónico coral a doble coro de adultos y un tercer coro infantil. Hoy mismo tenemos un ensayo general con estos pequeños grandes músicos. Pero para no alejarme más del tema, muchos de mis compañeros en el canto lírico provienen de los niños cantores, así que es una buena escuela de formación que acaba de celebrar su aniversario de 15 años por todo lo alto en el Centro Nacional de Acción Social por la Música en Caracas. Nosotros, la Coral Nacional Simón Bolívar, fuimos los encargados de abrir su concierto y al final nos unimos a ellos en un hermoso canto común.

In the small intervention of the adult choir we performed songs such as O Vos Omnens by David Childs, Sainte-Chapelle by Erick Whitacre, Let My Love Be Heard by Jake Runestad and Fly Song by Kim André Arnesen among others. The children performed a rich repertoire that included works such as Cantate Domino by Xabier Sarasola, Alfonsina y el Mar arranged by Vivian Tabbush and the famous Venezuelan joropo "Pajarillo".

En la pequeña intervención de la coral de adultos interpretamos temas como O Vos Omnens de David Childs, Sainte-Chapelle de Erick Whitacre, Let My Love Be Heard de Jake Runestad y Fly Song de Kim André Arnesen entre otras. Los niños hicieron un rico repertorio donde resaltaron obras como el Cantate Domino de Xabier Sarasola, Alfonsina y el Mar en arreglo de Vivian Tabbush y el famoso joropo venezolano "Pajarillo".

I enjoyed this concert very much, even though I had a severe headache attack that day. I think that's why I don't have the best pictures to share with you. Unfortunately after our opening I had to go sit with the rest of the audience and at least listen to the concert while waiting for Jhoxiris, since it was a long time before the common singing. The latter consisted of joining the Niños Cantores de Venezuela with the Simon Bolivar National Choir and some former members, no longer children, who were in the audience. Pieces such as A La Tierra, arrangement by Julio Morales Pineda were chosen to achieve this goal.

Disfruté mucho de este concierto, a pesar de que ese día tuve un fuerte ataque de dolor de cabeza. Creo que por eso no tengo las mejores fotografías para compartirles. Lamentablemente después de nuestra apertura tuve que irme a sentar con el resto del público y al menos escuchar el concierto mientras esperaba a Jhoxiris, ya que faltaba mucho para el canto común. Este último consistía en unir a los Niños Cantores de Venezuela con la Coral Nacional Simón Bolívar y algunos ex miembros, que ya no son niños y que se encontraban entre el público asistente. Se eligieron piezas como A La Tierra, arreglo de Julio Morales Pineda para lograr este objetivo.

The 3speak video I share above was recorded with my Tecno Pova II and has fragments of Let My Love Be Heard, Velero Mundo by Modesta Bor, Sainte-Chapelle and A La Tierra, the common song where we joined both choral groups.
