A few hours ago, I received a call from my cousin. I expected an excited tone because it has been long we had a chat on phone. Unfortunately, the atmosphere because sour when she told me she was current in the hospital and was diagnosed a certain illness.
She shared briefly how things had been with her and how she had been coping.
The world sometimes can be such a hopeless place, that all you just want to do is give up.
There's a popular sentence people say and it is fact. "As long as there is life, there is hope".
The situation may be screaming the opposite, but that's when you need to fix you gaze only on God and trust that he will plant your feet on higher ground, and above that hopeless situation.
Most times, a lot of people find it hard to think of a song that fits the theme for a given week. There are also days a piece comes to us. It is part of life hehe.
During the days I find it challenging to come up with a song, I go on google and what song would fit them. If you ever feel stuck, this tip might help. Thank me later.😁
Meanwhile, after getting results from google, you then would need to learn the song if you don't know it at all, or refresh your memory if you already know the song.
The result I got upon searching this time was quite exciting; I know a few of them. But, I settled for 'Higher Ground' a hymnal song by Johnson Oatman.
I sang along with the piano instrumental on
Youtube by Kaleb Brasee
The song Higher Ground is a prayer song that was inspired by scripture in the bible.
Sometimes the journey to the higher ground can be rough and as a believer who has faith, we trust that no matter the challenges faced along the way, there is hope that we will get there because we are alive and we trust God.
This hymnal song written by Johnson Oatman expresses the desire to draw closer to God and to grow in spiritual character and strength.
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Canaan’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fear dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still, I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”
