I will be performing in a few days, but how will I get rid of stage fright?

    About :

Our choir concert is coming up on Sunday, the 23rd of this month. This is something I'm looking forward to.

The final rehearsal is this Saturday, and we'll be performing about 14 songs at the concert. We've had fun so far, and we've had some not-so-fun times too.

The video I published through 3speak shows when it was fun, you can see how excited we were and that was during our rehearsal on Saturday last week.

Story story, this was what happened.

Our assistant choir coordinator was also given a song to score. However, this song is not his kind of song. Even his wife, who is a member of the choir, has come to the conclusion that her husband would not be able to lead the song. At our last rehearsal, he proved her wrong and we didn't disappoint. We all started hyping him right away. You would hear us laughing excitedly at the end of the video. To be honest, he did great, but he still has to score it well, but he tried. Using his story as a lesson, we can conclude that we should never look down on anyone, or else the results may be shocking.

    When it isn't fun.

When it isn't fun, we probably weren't getting our parts right for each song. We are also already spending more than we should on one song.

It's just like what happened last Saturday when we spent an hour and thirty minutes rehearsing a song. The song's title is WINNING by SINACH, and it's an interesting one. This song is a very technical song in the sense that it has different parts and lots of things to do on it. Good thing, we were able to get a hang of it before the end of the rehearsal.

I am hoping now that when the rest of the choir members and I come together this Saturday, we will be able to rehearse all 14 songs with ease. This will enable us to avoid spending too much time on any of the songs.

A song was assigned to me as well, the title is 'A NEW SONG by BROOKLYN TERBANABLE'.

After I was told to score the song, I did what was expected of me, which was to pay attention and score everything that needed to be scored. However, I concluded that the song was going to be difficult for me. However, I didn't stop listening to it and I didn't tell my choir coordinator my fears about the song. I just kept listening to it.

My short story is that I have finally been able to score the song. I think I am ready to conduct the choir on the day of the concert.

There is one challenge I have been unable to overcome and that is 'STAGE FRIGHT'. When I step on stage to perform my song, my heart starts pounding so fast involuntarily as if I have been doing jumping jacks. You can imagine that. Most times, this heart race that is triggered by stage fright makes me perform below my expectations.

As I mentioned earlier, we will be having our final rehearsal on Saturday and the concert will be on Sunday. Before now, we had not been working with sound. However, for this final rehearsal which we will be having on Saturday, we will be using sound, that is the microphones.

We have all been informed about this and we've been told to get prepared for Saturday so that we don't start complaining of hunger halfway into the rehearsal.

My sister and I plan to contribute some money to get the food items we will need. The agreement is that she will prepare the meal and bring it along with her to church. In between the rehearsal, we will be having a break period and that is when we will stop and have lunch before resuming our rehearsal again.

The only instructions we had on Saturday last week were to eat enough food at home before coming and to arrive at the church at precisely 9 AM so we could begin our intensive final rehearsal at approximately 10:30 AM.

I'm excited about the rehearsal. In rehearsal, I am always comfortable singing, but on D-day, when I am standing in front of the congregation, that stage takes away all of my confidence. That is the point you hear my voice sound like I am trembling 😆

    It is really annoying.

In summary, I am looking forward to the final rehearsal on Saturday and the concert day which is on Sunday. We will take pictures, so I will come back to share them here on Sunday.

    Thanks for reading
