Here is week 55 of Afri-tunes, where I will share an original song not composed by me, but by a woman who was once the children's choir coordinator at the church I attended as a child.
It was on Saturday last week that the song came to my mind, so I thought it would be nice to share it here. I added my own twist to the song though.
Though I do not know what inspired her to compose this song, I am certain it was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Psalm 137 confirms this belief.
Psalm 137 talks about Israel's people in captivity and their longing for their homeland.
The lyrics of the song show a sense of hope and resilience among Israel's people even in the face of difficulties. Through the lyrics of the song, the woman captured the spirit of hope, resilience, and longing that Israel's people felt in the face of adversity.
Psalm 137 is also a lament about the Babylonian Exile, in which the Israelites were taken away from their homes and forced to live in a foreign land. It talks about the power of the Lord to bring people through difficult times and give them hope and peace even in despair.
Another part of the song can be found in Isaiah 49:15 which says "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you." The verse reminds us that God will never forget His people, no matter what situation they are in. This is a powerful reminder of God's unwavering love and care for us. He is always faithful and will never forget us, even in the most difficult of times. He is our constant source of strength and hope.
In the final part of the lyrics, it is stated that the Lord is good and faithful.
I hope you enjoy this Acapella presentation.

In a strange land |2×
Let the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my mouth
Be acceptable in your sight, oh lord.
Can a woman forget
Her sucking child?
She has no compassion
For the son of her womb
Yet, they may forget |2×
I will never forget you |2×
Says the lord
Don't be afraid
Fear not, for I am with you
Do not dismay
For I am your God
I will strengthen you
I will guide you
I will uphold you in the right hand of my righteousness
God is good
God is faithful |3×
He's the lord, he changeth not.
