Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!
This is my 39th week contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 104 overall!
In all of my TTT entries I like to play the songs on guitar as well as share the original videos... and I have a new pattern for "Three Tune Tuesday" where I pick three songs by one of my favourite artists, that has inspired me - as I also write original songs.
This week I would like to pick Eric Clapton - somebody who has been inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame THREE separate times! In 1992 as part of the Yardbirds (Not Derek & The Dominos as I accidentally said in the video!), in 1993 as part of the supergroup Cream, and then 2000 under his own name!
I'm going to look for videos from Eric Clapton's famous unplugged MTV session from 1992, seeing as I am on acoustic guitar myself - those versions will be closer to the sound I am striving for...
Let's start with "Layla" - this is the song that Eric Clapton wrote when he was successful in trying to steal away George Harrison's (the Beatle) wife, and marry her himself! Here is the unplugged version:
Ultimately that relationship was unsuccessful, which led to the beautiful song "Old Love" - here is the unplugged version:
And finally, there is "Tears in Heaven" - the fantastic song Eric Clapton wrote after his very young son tragically passed away. Here is the unplugged version:
So that's week 104 done and dusted! I hope you enjoyed the Eric Clapton songs! Which song was your favourite? Did I miss an important one to you?
And so, which artist will I do three covers of next week, for TTT number 105? I hope you tune in to find out and thank you so much for clicking/watching/reading this time!!
