Retro Music week 4 / Cover "The Midnight Special (CCR)" by @jasperdick (ENG/ESP)

Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Music Community! My name is @jasperdick and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

This is Week 4 of the “Retro Music” challenge! The aim of the game is to play a cover of anything from the 1920s to the 1990s, anything that would be considered a bit “Retro” in this day and age, which opens up a world of possibilities!

This week I want to play you “The Midnight Special”!

According to the Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_Special_(song)), it seems that it started out as a traditional song, with the first written evidence of the opening lines by Howard Odum in 1905. It also seems that the very famous blues artist “Lead Belly” recorded various versions of the song through the late 1930’s and 1940’s… however, the version that I grew up with, along with most people I know is from the Creedence Clearwater 1969 album “Willy and the Poor Boys”! This gives it a rocking full-band country-blues sound that I just love!

“The Midnight Special” refers to a train that comes past a prison, and is a symbol of freedom to the prisoners locked inside!

You can see that because I play it solo, I tend to emphasise a simple rhythm even more and try give it 100% energy! I hope you enjoy!

¡Hola a todos en Hive y especialmente a la comunidad musical de Hive! ¡Mi nombre es @jasperdick y les escribo (y canto) desde Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica!

¡Esta es la semana 4 del desafío "Música retro"! El objetivo del juego es jugar una versión de cualquier cosa, desde la década de 1920 hasta la década de 1990, cualquier cosa que se considere un poco "retro" en esta época, ¡lo que abre un mundo de posibilidades!

¡Esta semana quiero tocarles "El especial de medianoche"!

Según la página de Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_Special_(song)), parece que comenzó como una canción tradicional, con la primera evidencia escrita de las primeras líneas de Howard Odum en 1905. También parece que el muy famoso artista de blues “Lead Belly” grabó varias versiones de la canción a finales de los años 30 y 40… sin embargo, la versión con la que crecí, junto con la mayoría de las personas que conozco, es del álbum de Creedence Clearwater de 1969 “ Willy y los niños pobres”! ¡Esto le da un sonido rockero de country-blues de banda completa que me encanta!

“The Midnight Special” se refiere a un tren que pasa por una prisión y es un símbolo de libertad para los prisioneros encerrados dentro.
