The Singing Voice / La Voz Cantante (ENG/ESP) - Week 59 - "Suicidal Dream" by Silverchair

Hello everybody on Hive and especially the PukoMundo Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from unusually rainy Cape Town, South Africa (it’s supposed to be late summer)! This is Week 59 of “The Singing Voice” or “La Voz Cantante” challenge!

So, the aim of the game is to play a rock cover, or perhaps a cover of a genre that led to the formation of rock music.

Let’s do some mid 90’s alternative quite heavy rock! In 1995, when I was 10 years old… my older sister was just becoming a teenager and listening to the first album by a young Australian rock band, that would be the heavier kind of music I grew up listening to! The band was called Silverchair and their first album was called “Frogstomp”.

What is incredible about Frogstomp is that most of the songs are very good, and the band-members were about 15 years old and still in school when they recorded it!! Like some kind of heavy alternative universe version of Hansen! Hahahaha!

I have found the CD nearly 30 years later and I’m enjoying listening to some of the songs that I used to start learning guitar in the first place! Perhaps I should re-teach myself more of them, but let’s start with a song called “Suicidal Dream”, which is a pretty hectic name for a song by some 15 year olds the year after we lost Kurt Cobain!

¡Hola a todos en Hive y especialmente a la Comunidad PukoMundo! Mi nombre es Jasper y te escribo (y canto) desde la inusualmente lluviosa Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica (se supone que es a fines del verano). ¡Esta es la Semana 59 del desafío “La Voz Cantante” o “La Voz Cantante”!

Entonces, el objetivo del juego es tocar una versión de rock, o tal vez una versión de un género que condujo a la formación de la música rock.

¡Hagamos algo de rock alternativo bastante pesado de mediados de los 90! En 1995, cuando tenía 10 años... mi hermana mayor se estaba convirtiendo en adolescente y escuchaba el primer álbum de una joven banda de rock australiana, ¡ese sería el tipo de música más pesada que crecí escuchando! La banda se llamaba Silverchair y su primer álbum se llamó "Frogstomp".

Lo increíble de Frogstomp es que la mayoría de las canciones son muy buenas, y los miembros de la banda tenían unos 15 años y aún estaban en la escuela cuando la grabaron. ¡Como una especie de versión pesada del universo alternativo de Hansen! Jajajaja!

¡Encontré el CD casi 30 años después y disfruto escuchando algunas de las canciones que usé para comenzar a aprender guitarra en primer lugar!
