The Rains Have Arrived

Caracas has a tropical climate, where climatic seasons practically do not exist, since the year is divided into a dry season and a rainy season, in recent years these climatic periods have had a force, a permanence in time and an incidence on daily life much more violent than in previous decades, the one responsible for this situation is climate change, whose effects on temperatures and on the ecosystem are hitting everyone equally hard.

Normally the rains used to start in the month of May and their intensity increased until they reached the end of October, but this year we have seen how since January the showers and precipitations are present, approximately a week ago it officially occurred started this season and from the first day downpours, electrical storms and gusts of wind began to fall that in a matter of hours put communities in various parts of the country in trouble.

From my house you have a privileged view of the city and it is for this reason that you can capture images of those storms that are approaching like a great fog that seeks to cover everything with impressive hairiness. On this occasion the storm came from the east and in the distance the noise and flashes caused by lightning could be heard, a situation that already alerted us to what would fall on us in a matter of minutes, fortunately I was able to get some captures so that you have a idea of what those calm minutes before the storm are like.

First a very strong wind would arrive, then the rain and later the lightning and lightning, the water was lashing with such force that the windows were completely covered, preventing visibility, which forced me to look out the balcony window, which looks to the west and from there I managed to make a video that shows the force of that storm that fell on the entire city. Apparently this season will be marked by the La Niña phenomenon, which tells us that we must prepare for constant and very intense rains.

Llegaron las Lluvias

Caracas cuenta con un clima tropical, en donde prácticamente no existen las estaciones climáticas, ya que el año se divide en una temporada seca y otra lluviosa, en los últimos años estos periodos climáticos han tenido una fuerza, una permanencia en el tiempo y una incidencia sobre la vida cotidiana mucho más violenta que en décadas anteriores, el responsable de esta situación es el cambio climático, cuyos efectos en las temperaturas y en el ecosistema está golpeando fuertemente a todos por igual.

Normalmente las lluvias solían comenzar en el mes de mayo y su intensidad se iba incrementando hasta llegar a finales de octubre, pero en este año hemos visto como desde el mes de enero los chubascos y precipitaciones se encuentran presentes, hace aproximadamente una semana se dio oficialmente iniciada esta temporada y desde el primer día comenzaron a caer aguaceros, tomentos eléctricas y ráfagas de viento que en cuestión de horas pusieron en aprietos a las comunidades de diversos lugares del país.

Desde mi casa se tiene una vista privilegiada de la ciudad y es por esta razón que se pueden capturar imágenes de esas tormentas que se van acercando como si fuera una gran niebla que busca taparlo todo con una vellosidad impresionante. En esta ocasión el temporal venia desde el este y a lo lejos se escuchaba los estruendos y los destellos causados por los rayos, situación que ya nos alertaba sobre lo que en cuestión de minutos caería sobre nosotros, afortunadamente pude lograr algunas capturas para que ustedes tengan una idea de cómo son esos minutos de calma antes de la tormenta.

Primero llegaría un viento muy fuerte, luego la lluvia y posteriormente los rayos y centellas, el agua estaba azotando con tal fuerza que los vidrios quedaron totalmente tapados, impidiendo la visibilidad, lo cual me obligo a asomarme por la ventana del balcón, la cual mira al oeste y desde allí conseguí hacer un video que evidencia la fuerza de aquella tormenta que cayó sobre toda la ciudad. Al parecer esta temporada estará marcada por el fenómeno de la niña, lo cual nos indica que debemos prepararnos para lluvias constantes y muy intensas.
