Luego de unos tres años pude retomar la tradición de visitar Los Siete Templos. Diversas circunstancias me habían impedido hacerlo, primero la escasez de gasolina, luego el Covid-19.

Esta tradición la he mantenido desde niño. En mi familia se acostumbraba hacer la visita los Viernes Santos, preferiblemente en horas del mediodía, era el tiempo donde había menos personas en las iglesias. También se puede hacer durante la tarde y noche del Jueves.

Mi recorrido lo comienzo en una iglesia cercana, en la zona del Castaño, al Norte de Maracay. Luego bajo unos cuatro kilómetros hasta el Barrio Sucre, Sigo hacia la Cooperativa y de allí paso al centro donde están las cuatro iglesias restantes. Termino la visita en la Catedral de Maracay.

Este Viernes había poca gente, lo normal para esa hora del mediodía y más en este año donde la temperatura ha subido de forma impresionante, el calor ha sido muy fuerte.

En todas las iglesias se observan arreglos muy lindos. Todos son hechos por grupos de voluntarios que se organizan en cofradías. Son personas muy vinculadas a cada parroquia. Ellos se encargan de gestionar ante los entes privados, empresas y negocios, las donaciones para que los arreglos se puedan hacer realidad. Hay mucha solidaridad y colaboración en estos eventos.

La visita a los Siete Templos es para recordar momentos emblemáticos en el proceso vivido por Jesús y que culminó con su crucifixión. En cada iglesia se recuerda el momento y se dedican las oraciones respectivas.

En todas las iglesias permanece abierto el Sagrario, en señal de que está ausente ese día el cuerpo de Cristo. Es el único día del año donde el Sagrario está vacío, y es el único día en que no se celebra misa en las iglesias.

El motivo de esos dos eventos, es por el duelo de la comunidad cristiana debido a la muerte de Jesús.

El recorrido para visitar esos Siete Templos me toma unas dos horas, ya que tengo que rodar una distancia considerable por lo distanciado de las iglesias. Sin vehículo es muy difícil hacerlo. Por eso las personas que tienen vehículo propio acostumbran a invitar a los vecinos y amigos que no los poseen. De ese modo ellos también pueden cumplir con esta gran tradición.

In all the churches the tabernacle remains open, as a sign that the body of Christ is absent that day. It is the only day of the year when the tabernacle is empty, and it is the only day when no mass is celebrated in the churches.

The tour to visit these Seven Temples takes me about two hours, since I have to drive a considerable distance because of the distance from the churches. Without a vehicle it is very difficult to do it. That is why people who have their own vehicles usually invite their neighbors and friends who do not have them. That way they can also fulfill this great tradition.
