    About :

It's the 122nd Independence Day celebration in the country. I suppose a freedom talk (rant) is due. I'm usually apolitical. It's not about personalities of those who hold office, but it's about competence and compassion for the greater majority of the constituents. One thing for sure is I'm pro-Philippines. On this supposed freedom day, it's good to look back and also think whether we are truly free from foreign influence. As it is, some islands in the Philippines are being claimed by another country. The topic has been controversial and has gone on for decades. I hate to sound pessimistic but from the looks of it, we are losing that war. The Philippines is also NOT covid free. We now have around 22K cases. Even our own health department seems to be at a loss at what they are doing. General community quarantine (quite the euphemistic term for our lockdown) has not been lifted. Some sectors aren't back to normal, although I highly doubt we'll ever go back to the normal that we knew before all the brouhaha happened. sigh Public transportation has not been brought back, esp. the jeepneys -- cheapest mode of public transport. I think the government wanted to replace them for good. Then there's the nightmare of the Anti-Terrorism Bill that is looming over the heads of every citizen at the moment. I think it kinda expands the power of those who are in charge, making the public vulnerable to human rights abuse. I do wish for a country leader who would be more pro-Philippines and pro-Filipinos. The one we have right now acts more like someone else's lapdog. sigh You may wonder about some of the terms mentioned like the mañanita, supposedly a traditional gathering of sorts for some of our local uniformed personnel. It made for quite a controversy as said mass gathering was supposedly prohibited during quarantine. But then, the excuse was it was a mañanita. However you look at it, it was a party with lots of attendees complete with flowers and even alcoholic drinks. Tsk tsk. Now, the general public is prohibited to hold a protest or rally against the signing of the Anti-Terrorism Bill. I'd say it's wise to argue that it was just another mañanita. LOL! Indeed, I pray for better governance of my country. May the challenges brought about by 2020 awaken us enough to rise above the situation and learn to fight for our rights and demand better leaders and public servants. I dream of a truly free Philippines, where every Filipino gets to live the good life that they deserve.

Sorry for the rant. I intentionally gathered my thoughts in that one huge mass. LOL! Anyway, meet my surprise guest in the video. A little one got a bit naughty.. find out who and why!
