    Saludos

    Greetings

Welcome once again to my Blog on the Hive Blockchain, my name is Luis Angel Ramirez better known by the username @guitarmcy. Delighted to have the opportunity to participate in this great Festival that unites people from all over the world in order to share a scenario that seeks to demonstrate that music is an event that is having life in Web 3.0.

We have reached the Week N°18 and culminating this cycle of participations with the Round number 3, for this opportunity I will participate again with the mandolin which is an instrument that I am very passionate about, it may be because my mother from a very young age came to play this instrument.

    Presentation of the musical piece:

The piece I'm going to present is entitled Afternoon in Paris by composer John Lewis, I honestly do not know anything about the history of the piece, but it is one of those Jazz Standard that I never get tired of hearing, the version I'm going to play I took it out of the Bible of Jazz, the Real Book and the track I got it from Youtube.

This time I'm not accompanying myself on guitar because I want to experiment with a track, as I've seen it from other colleagues on Hive, I wanted to try it anyway.

    My relationship with Jazz

Since I started listening to Bossa Nova, I was very interested in jazz in all its facets, I listened to hours and hours of Smooth Jazz, Swing Jazz, Bebop, Jazz Manouche, etc.... I don't consider myself a jazzman, because you really have to study a lot to reach the level of the great masters (Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Arturo Sandoval, Joe Pass...). Study hours and hours of improvisation in its many forms, scales, complex harmonies ....

But I do have in my way of making music (and of living too) elements that are characteristic of jazz, among those the use of the harmonic turns of the "Two - Five - One" or the fact of improvising with blues scales.

I have always tried to study Popular and Academic Music and to apply concepts in both areas, I consider that a musician cannot stagnate in only one genre, but must be versatile and universal with respect to the repertoire.

    A fraternal embrace.
