No bendy solos or fast runs, just a great tune. I used to play this song in a band back in the 90s. Our lead singer had one of those 90s voices. You know the, Hootie and the Blowfish/Pearl Jam kind that lends itself to this kind of song.
Stone Temple Pilots was one of the bands that got me through the post 80s guitar thing. They took the popularity of grunge with muso that can play their instruments (with a sound and a way that I like).
There are only a handful of chords in the song, but they mush have got their "Alternative guitar chord dictionary" out when they wrote it. Really nice voicings of a few different chords in the verse gives it a descending chromatic run that sounds really nice.
