It certainly could have been worse. Fortunately, it wasn't.
I bought this drone at the beginning of 2020 but haven't used it much since March. Since my son and his family were over for the Thanksgiving extended weekend, I decided I'd show off the drone.
I learned several lessons in doing so.
First off, practice with the drone before you attempt to fly it after eight months or so.
Especially, when it's not just the fire it up and fly variety.
Second, don't fly it indoors. Even though it's programmed to hover initially, that hovering height is pretty close to where the ceiling is.
Third, GPS positioning works great outdoors. Not as well indoors, apparently.
Fourth, remote controls don't work so well if the side receiving the signals is facing the carpet.
Fifth. Don't touch the blades while they're spinning. Especially if they rev up and go faster on their own. It hurts. Might even draw blood if you fingers stay there too long.
After some failed attempts, I finally did manage to turn off the drone. Then, after receiving some medical attention, I took it outside to properly show my son how it works, and to show that it is actually safe to fly.
Outdoors.
