Starting from the verse, the refrain to the end of the song “Smell Like Teen Spirit” always invites anyone to sing along. Who does not know this song? Even bombastic pop singers like Miley Cyrus have performed covers of this song – I wonder how Kurt Cobain felt when he found out. That's not the point of all this talk. In fact, according to a study, “Smell Like Teen Spirit” is indeed the most iconic song in music history.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Dr. Mick Grierson of Goldsmiths, University of London conducted a study of the 50 most hit songs in the history of world music. He started this study with lists of the best songs of all time from seven music media, including Rolling Stone, VH-1, NME and Q. After that, he used analytical software to examine the songs, starting with chords, beats per minute, chords, lyrics and other components.

From the study, "Smell Like Teen Spirit" became the song that occupied the first position as the most popular song according to the study. Grierson found that about 80 percent of the tracks he studied were written in major chords of A, E, C or G. The tempo he found in the popular songs he studied also took an average of 125 beats per minute.

Other songs included in Grierson's research include Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" at 15th, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" at 5th, and Radiohead's "Creep" at 25th. .

Despite the similarities behind all-time popular numbers, Grierson suggests there is no specific formula for turning a song into a hit. “Although applying this scientific process, what is said to be iconic depends on each individual. My conclusion, if we want to make good music, we have to make something that does sound good," said Grierson.

Interested in applying this research formula to your music, guys? Who knows, you will be lucky and become Nirvana's rival hits – of course with very small or large unexpected possibilities.

    ¡¡HOLLA CHICOS!!

    Lyrics:

Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
    She's over-bored and self-assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word

    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
    Yeah, hey

I'm worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end

    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
    Yeah, hey

And I forget just why I taste
Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard, was hard to find
    Oh well, whatever, never mind

    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello, how low
    Hello, hello, hello

With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido
    A denial, a denial, a denial, a denial, a denial
    A denial, a denial, a denial, a denial
