Rabbits are very cute animals, calm and relatively easy to keep so they can become excellent pets however they are not the most common pets and we can notice that because when we visit our friends, the most normal thing is that they have dogs, cats or even fish or birds. But very few are those who have rabbits and therefore we can not get to know enough about these furry animals with big ears and cute little faces.

Today we are going to show you 10 things that most people don't know about rabbits.

Number 1:
Female rabbits can become sexually developed 2 months earlier than male rabbits, therefore we can observe that while in medium sized breeds the females at 4 to 5 months have already reached sexual maturity the males can take 6 to 7 months.

Number 2:
Rabbits at first glance seem to be very tender and docile animals and the truth is that this is almost correct but the other side of the coin is that these animals can become very aggressive with others of their species since they are very territorial and can even attack other rabbits that are being integrated into the family for the first time, that is why you have to know how to introduce them to prevent them from hurting each other. A rabbit can have more than 12 young and become pregnant immediately after giving birth if the male remounts her.

Contrary to what many people believe, rabbits are not rodents but rather are from the lagomorph family.

Rabbits eat their droppings - yes, that's right! Rabbits eat and defecate a first time and then eat the pasty material again and defecate a second time. Rabbits do not need you to bathe them since they, just like cats, clean themselves with their tongue and in that way they always try to keep their fur very clean but unlike cats rabbits cannot vomit and that is why large hairballs can form inside their digestive system which can become harmful to their health. The good thing is that there are foods in nature that the rabbit consumes and that help it to expel those hairballs, in our homes we can give it pieces of pineapple or papaya to help our pet with the expulsion of those annoying hairballs.

Number 10:
Rabbits do not like to be on their back but if you manage to put them in this position they go through a kind of trance, something similar to the tonic immobility in sharks and many specialists say that this can become very harmful to rabbits so they recommend not to do it but still many people like to put the rabbits that way because they seem to relax a lot. Personally I do not recommend this practice as a habit.

Los conejos son animales muy bonitos, tranquilos y relativamente fáciles de mantener por lo que pueden llegar a ser excelentes mascotas sin embargo no son de las mascotas más comunes y eso lo podemos notar porque al visitar a nuestros amigos, lo más normal es que tengan perros , gatos o incluso peses o aves. Pero muy pocos son los que tienen conejos y por lo tanto no podemos llegar a saber lo suficiente sobre estos peludos animales de orejas grandes y caritas tiernas.

Hoy en este te mostrar 10 cosas que la gran mayoría de las personas no conocen sobre los conejos.

Número 1:
Los conejos hembra se pueden llegar a desarrollar sexualmente 2 meses antes que los conejos machos, por la tanto podemos observar que mientras que en razas de tamaño mediano las hembras a los 4 o 5 meses ya han alcanzado la madurez sexual los machos pueden tardar de 6 a 7 meses.

Número 2:
Los conejos a simple vista parecen ser animales muy tiernos y dóciles y la verdad es que esto es casi correcto pero la otra cara de la moneda es que estos animales pueden llegar a ser muy agresivos con otros de su especie ya que son muy territoriales y pueden llegar a atacar a otros conejos que se estén integrando a la familia por primera vez, por eso hay que saber como presentarlos para evitar que se lastimen entre ellos. Número 3:
Un conejo puede tener más de 12 crías y quedar embarazada inmediatamente después de haber dado a luz si el macho la vuelve a montar.
Número 4:
A diferencia de lo que muchas personas creen, los conejos no son roedores sino que más bien son de la familia de los lagomorfos.
Número 5:
Los conejos se comen sus excrementos ¡si, así es! Los conejos luego de comer y defecar una primera vez y vuelven a ingerir ese material pastoso para al final defecar por segunda vez, esto lo hacen como método de supervivencia, para aprovechar todos los nutrientes de sus alimentos de manera que nada se desperdicie. Los conejos realizan esta práctica generalmente al estar dentro de sus madrigueras ya que estos quedan muy expuestos al estar comiendo de su trasero .
Numero 6:
Existen razas de conejos gigantes que llegan a pesar más de 10kg.

Número 7:
Los conejos machos al aparearse con las hembras, caen tumbados de espaldas o de costado y es así como sabemos que el apareamiento fue exitoso.

Número 8:
Los dientes de los conejos nunca dejan de crecer y si crecen demasiado pueden enfermar y por eso siempre en su dieta se deben incluir ramas de árboles o tallos de plantas para que sus dientes continuamente se vayan desgastando.

Número 9:
Los conejos no necesitan que los bañes ya que estos al igual que los gatos, se limpian así mismos con su lengua y de esa forma siempre intentan mantener su pelaje muy limpio pero a diferencia de los gatos los conejos no pueden vomitar y por eso se pueden formar grandes bolas de pelo dentro de su sistema digestivo que pueden llegar a ser perjudiciales para su salud. Lo bueno es que hay alimentos en la naturaleza que el conejo consume y que lo ayudan a expulsar esas bolas de pelo, en nuestras casas le podemos dar trozos de piña o de papaya para ayudar a nuestra mascota con la expulsión de esas molestas bolas de pelos.

Numero 10:
A los conejos no le gusta estar boca arriba pero si logras ponerlos en esta posición ellos pasan por un tipo de trance, algo parecido a la inmovilidad tónica en los tiburones y muchos especialistas dicen que esto puede llegar a ser muy perjudicial para los conejos por lo que recomiendan que no lo hagan pero aun así a muchas personas les gusta poner a los conejos de esa forma porque parece que se relajan mucho. En lo personal no recomiendo tomar esta práctica como costumbre.
