    Friends of Hive and 3Speak! I am organizing several legendary Rock guitar solos! To begin with I want to show you this characteristic, peculiar and well known solo!!!

    "The Final Countdown" is a song performed by the Swedish hard rock band Europe. It was the first single from their album The Final Countdown. The song topped the charts in 25 countries,5 including the United Kingdom. In the U.S., it reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #18 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks. "The Final Countdown" was certified as a gold single in the U.K. in 1986.

    The song is based on a synthesizer riff composed by vocalist Joey Tempest in 1981-82 on a Korg Polysix synthesizer he borrowed from Mic Michaeli.78 In 1985, bassist John Levén suggested Tempest write a song based on that riff. The lyrics were inspired by David Bowie's "Space Oddity".9 The synthesizers used were Yamaha KX76, Roland JX-8P, PPG Wave, Yamaha DX7 and the Roland Juno 6010.
