May the 4th be with You - Obi Wan Drawing Fan Art [ENG-ESP]

Hello there, I hope you are all doing well my friends. Today is Star Wars Day, celebrated throughout the world of pop culture. Around the world, fans come together to show their love for the saga through their collections, stories, and even cosplay. Using art, I have made a portrait of the Jedi knight and general Obi Wan, one of my favorite characters and whom I consider one of the greatest Jedi in history. This time, played by the great Ewan McGregor in each of the prequels. I made this video using my phone, and through it you can see the technique I used. I hope you like it.

Hello There, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien amigos, hoy se celebra en todo el mundo de la cultura Pop el día de Star Wars, alrededor del mundo todos los fans se unen para mostrar su amor ala saga a través de sus colecciones, historias y hasta cosplays. Yo, utilizando el arte he realizado un retrato del cabellero Jedi y general Obi Wan, uno de mis personajes favoritos, y al que considero uno de los más grandes Jedis de la historia, en esta oportunidad interpretado por el gran Ewan McGregor en cada una de las precuelas. Este video lo he realizado utilizando mi teléfono y a través de él podrán ver la técnica empleada por mi, espero les guste.

I used some paper I have for painting with watercolors. Since I'll be using oil paint in the end, this paper is the best because it can withstand moisture. So I make a sketch with loose figures to gradually build up the face.

Utilicé un papel que tengo par apintar con acuarela,s como al final utilizaré aceite, este papel es el más indicado porque soporta la humedad. Así que hago un boceto con figuras sueltas para hacer poco a poco el rostro.

I began painting the eyes, using them as a starting point—it's like the point where we place the compass needle to make a circle. In this case, the eyes are the center from which I begin painting the entire drawing. I mix various shades of warm colors, including brown and ochre.

Comencé a pintar los ojos, lo utilicé como punto de partida, es como ese punto donde colocamos la aguja del compas para hacer el círculo, los ojos en este caso son el centro desde donde comienzo a pintar todo el dibujo. Mezclo varios tonos de colores cálidos entre café y ocre.

After putting what would be the base colors, I begin to give it depth, Obi Wan has blue eyes, so by mixing various colors I make the tone of his eyes appear, using the blue color as a base.

Luego de poner lo que serían los colores bases, comienzo a darle profundidad, Obi Wan tien los ojos azules, así que mezclando varios colores voy haciendo que el tono de sus ojos vaya apareciendo, utilizando como base el color azul.

I paint the other eye in the same way, without forgetting the skin tone, which I use a very light pastel tone that I then mix with all of them, like peach, and in the darker parts I use a light brown color.

De igual forma piento el otro ojo, sin olvidarme del tono de la piel, el cual utilizo un tono pastel muy claro que luego voy mezclando con todos como el durazo y en las partes más oscuras utilizo un color café claro.

Next I paint the beard, which is red, so I use colors like terracotta mixed with ochre and also sienna brown, these tones help a lot to achieve the contrast between light and shadow when it comes to hair.

Seguidamente voy pintando la barba, el cual es pelirroja, así que voy usando los colores como el terracota mezclado con ocre y también café siena, estos tonos ayudan mucho para lograr el contraste entre luces y sombra cuando se trata de cabello.

I also paint the hair with the same tones, except I use longer, faster strokes to create the hair. I also add dark brown and sometimes black to darken certain areas.

El cabello también lo pinto con los mismos tonos, solo que cambio el trazo por trazos más largos y rápidos, para hacer el cabello. También agrego café oscuro y en ocasiones color negro para oscurecer ciertas partes del cabello.

To finish, I paint part of the Jedi robes Obi-Wan wears, and I also draw the lightsaber in white, adding a blueish background to the portrait. Finally, I blend all the colors with a brush, using mineral oil as a varnish to help them blend better.

Para finalizar pinto parte de la ropa Jedi que Utiliza Obi Wan y también dibujo con color blanco el sable de luz, y agrego un fondo azulado a al retrato. Por último, con un pincel difumino todos los colores utilizando aceite mineral como barniz, así se mezclan mejor los colores.

What did you think of the drawing? I think it turned out very realistic. I think the secret this time was working hard on the skin and the depth of the eyes. Obi-Wan is undoubtedly one of the best characters, the complete opposite of Darth Vader. He had great battles, one of the best being against his disciple who fell to the dark side. What made this battle epic was the location; the planet Mustafar looked like a true hell. I hope you liked it. May the Force be with you, and you know, never play against the one who has the high ground.

Qué les ha parecido el dibujo? Me ha quedado muy realista, creo que en esta oportunidad el secreto estuvo en trabajar mucho con la piel, y la profundidad de los ojos. Obi Wan sin duda es uno de los mejores personajes, todo lo contrario a Darth Vader, tuvo grandes batallas, siendo una de las mejores contra su discipulo caído al lado oscuro. Lo que hizo épica esta batalla fue el lugar, y es que el planeta Mustafar parecía un auténtico infierno. Espero que les haya gustado, que la fuerza este con ustedes, y ya saben, nunca jueguen contra el que tiene el terreno alto.
