It was a great time listening to great teaching from bro Eli. A lot of lessons were learnt and I just want to share few from the lessons.
Christ is the only teacher appointed by God.
Mark 7:7-8 KJV
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. [8] For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
If we follow the Commandments of men, all we do is in vain.
Matthew 28:19-20 KJV
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The first doctrine of Jesus Christ is baptism. The doctrines of Christ are all written in the Bible.
1 Corinthians 14:37 KJV
If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
Galatians 1:13 KJV
For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
Paul was formally of the Jews' religion. When he was called, the first thing was told was to be baptized.
Acts 22:16 KJV
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
This is the prove that baptism is the first doctrine.
1 Corinthians 1:1-2 KJV
Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, [2] Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
Paul became a member of the church of God. The church of God he was persecuting.
Acts 2:41 KJV
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
To become a member of the church, the first thing is to be baptized. Before baptism, one should receive the word first.
Christ is the head of the body and the body is the church.
Romans 12:9 KJV
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Avoiding evil and embracing good is a commandment of God.
To receive the doctrine of God, we need to receive the church of the Bible.
