    About :

"Curare", one of the first Venezuelan groups to perform Brazilian music.

    Hello my people Hive

The Brazilian Choro or Choriño is one of the musical genres of Brazil that has spread the most in the world. This music is believed to be the direct predecessor of samba and, above all, of bosanova. In Venezuela, the introduction of this type of music is of recent date and this happened thanks to the initiative of a Venezuelan musical group known as Grupo Curare, of which I was the founder playing the Mandolin. Other musicians who accompanied me in that company were: Alfonzo Moreno on the Venezuelan Cuatro, Eliseo Castro on the Guitar and Héctor Araguainamo on the Double Bass.
The promotion and dissemination of the Brazilian Choro in Venezuela occurred more or less in the decade of the 80s of the last century and one of the first songs that were performed was "Noites Cariocas" by the no less well-known Brazilian mandolinist Jaco Pick Bitancurt (Jacob do Bandolin ). On this occasion, we are going to remember the memorable and unpublished event of one of the first audio-video recordings of the Brazilian Choro. This is the first version that the Cumaná Strings Group "Curare" made of "Noites Cariocas" that later became famous here in our country. The incident occurred in 1985 at the "Venezolana de Televisión" Television Plant in the city of Caracas. After this memorable event, the trail of Brazilian music, especially choro, ran like powder to become common music in the repertoire of Venezuelan mandolinists.

The Curare Group or Cuarteto Cuare, as they also called it, always included within its musical repertoire, in addition to traditional - popular Venezuelan music, Brazilian music, especially of the Choro genre.
