Today's music is titled "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". It is a song that appeared for the first time in the American film The Wizard of Oz (1939), winning an Oscar for the best original song that same year. It is believed that this song was written especially for Judy Garland (1922 - 1969), protagonist of the film. The music was composed by Harold Arlen (1905-1986) and the lyrics by Edgar Yipsel Harburg (1896-1981). There are hundreds of versions of this song and one of the most famous is that of the Hawaiian ukulele player Israel (Iz) Kamakawiwo'ole (1959 - 1997). The version from Israel includes some parts of another famous song, What a wonderful world and was included in the Album Facing Future of 1993, with it Israel found an artistic projection on an international level. On this occasion, I have the pleasure of presenting you a very simple version that I did with the Violin accompanied by the Guitarist Luís Enrique González.

Oficial Somewhere over the Rainbow - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole
Somewhere Over The Rainbow tells us about an imaginary and wonderful world beyond the rainbow, where problems do not exist. It is a utopian world, where dreams come true, only and only if we really want it. The ideal of a better world is achieved if we leave behind the bad things that happen to us and look to the future always with the hope of a better world, a world where people are happy. We know that this is a utopia and, the author leaves the question open by asking why can't this be reality?
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Isral Iz version
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, oohSomewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dream of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dream of
Dreams really do come trueSomeday, I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dare to
Oh why, oh why can’t I?Well, I see trees of green and red roses too
I’ll watch them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Well, I see skies of blue and I see clouds of white
And the brightness of day
I like the dark
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
And also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands saying
How do you do?
They’re really saying I, I love youI hear babies cry and I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more then we’ll know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Someday I wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top
That’s where you’ll find me
Oh, somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
And the dreams that you dare to
Why oh, why can’t I? Ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh
