I think that when we are joyful and happy many people want to throw a rope around our necks and grab us to enjoy that moment of happiness, but could this deprive us of freedom? Let's know the story of the filly Zaina in this beautiful Venezuelan llanera song that I bring to share today.

Creo que cuando somos alegres y felices muchos quieren lanzarnos la soga al cuello y acapararnos para disfrutar de ese instante de felicidad, pero ¿Podría esto privarnos de libertad? Conozcamos la historia de la potra Zaina en esta hermosa canción llanera venezolana que traigo para compartir hoy

I was doing some diligence early in the morning and I passed by my garden, there were some beautiful flowers and I took pictures of them that I will share in another publication, seeing those beautiful flowers made this piece of music come to my mind and I thought it was a good idea to sing it and tell you about its lyrics.

For those who do not speak Spanish I will tell you about the lyrics of the song so that you can understand it, since its melody is so soft in the company of the harp that can transport us to forests and mountains.

In the beginning I mentioned a thought and it is that when we are happy, content or overflowing with happiness and beauty some people want to take advantage of it and monopolize us, in some cases we react to the rejection and we could be somewhat surly and wild to defend our happiness or welfare but in other cases we could get carried away and lose not only happiness but freedom.

In the case of the filly Zaina, it is a wild mare from the Venezuelan plains which was very beautiful, it is described as bright and beautiful eyes and tail and mane whose hair was shiny and beautiful, she enjoyed freedom and would not be tamed by anyone, neither by those humans who wanted to capture her, nor by the horses themselves or other foals who wanted to possess her. She is also described as wild, somewhat innocent and naive.

In an oversight of the same, a human who watched her very closely to capture and tame her, that was his only intention, tame that beautiful and wild mare would be his greatest treasure with the final promise that would then give him his freedom.

At the cost of that, narrates the story in the song, the filly was captured, she not only lost her freedom but was submerged in sadness and poetically describes that at night her sobs could be heard from the corral.

However, whoever was able to capture her, achieved his goal, tamed her and then released her, but I am sure that the way things happen to us and we overcome them, we will never be the same again, in the memory of this filly will remain engraved the day they put her lasso and deprived her of running through the mountains and show all her virgin and flirtatious beauty, becoming insecure and fearful.

Some things simply hit us and we break inside, but the important thing is to continue, to look for happiness again, to be free, without emotional ties or of any kind, nobody would like to be locked up, in a cage, imprisoned, deprived of freedom or conditioned not to be themselves. We are not the ones to do such a thing, unless they break the laws, but in the case of animals, we are not the ones to deprive them of their freedom.

Estaba haciendo unas diligencias temprano por la mañana y pasé por mi jardín, habían unas flores preciosas y les tomé fotografías que compartiré en otra publicación, ver esas flores tan hermosas hizo que viniera a mi mienta esta pieza musical y me pareció buena idea cantarla y contarles sobre sus letras.

Para quienes no hablan español contaré acerca de las letras de la canción para que puedan comprenderla, ya que su melodía es tan suave en la compañía del arpa que nos pueden trasladar a bosques y montañas.

En el principio hice mención de un pensamiento y es que cuando estamos alegres, contentos o desbordamos de felicidad y hermosura algunas personas quieren aprovecharse de ello y acapararnos, en algunos casos reaccionamos al rechazo y podríamos ser algo ariscos y salvajes por defender nuestra felicidad o bienestar pero en otros casos podríamos dejarnos llevar y perder no solo la felicidad sino la libertad.

En el caso de la potra Zaina, se trata de una yegua salvaje de los llanos venezolanos la cual era muy hermosa, se describe como ojos brillantes y hermosos y cola y crines cuyos cabellos eran brillantes y bellos, gozaba de libertad y no se dejaba domar por nadie, ni por aquellos humanos que querían capturarla, ni por los propios caballos u otros potros que deseaban poseerla. Se describe además de salvaje algo inocente e ingenua.

En un descuido de la misma, un humano quien la vigilaba muy de cerca para capturarla y domarla, esa era su única intención, domar a esa yegua hermosa y salvaje sería su mayor tesoro con la promesa final que luego le daría su libertad.

A costa de eso, narra la historia en la canción, la potra fue capturada, no solo perdió su libertad sino que se sumergió en la tristeza y poéticamente describe que en las noches se podían escuchar sus sollozos desde el corral.

Sin embargo, quien pudo capturarla, logró su cometido, la domesticó y luego la soltó pero estoy segura que así como nos suceden las cosas y las superamos jamás volvemos a ser los mismos, en la memoria de esta potranca quedará grabado el día que le pusieron su lazo y la privaron de correr por los montes y mostrar toda su belleza virgen y coqueta, convirtiéndose en alguien insegura y miedosa.

Hay cosas que sencillamente nos propinan y nos quebramos por dentro, pero lo importante es continuar, buscar la felicidad de nuevo, ser libres, sin ataduras emocionales o de ningún tipo, a nadie le gustaría estar encerrado, en una jaula, preso, privado de libertad o condicionado de no ser sí mismo. No somos quien para hacer tal cosa, a menos que infrinjan las leyes pero en el caso de los animales, no somos quienes para privarlos de su libertad.

La filly Zaina belongs to the LP Album (vinyl records) Campesina of the extinct musical group Los Torrealberos, whose release was in 1959, is a fabulous piece of music from the plains belonging to the Venezuelan folklore, it invites us to enjoy the Venezuelan plains and its wild life in all its splendor.

Its melody and lyrics are so beautiful that it has been interpreted by many singers among them Amin Castellanos, Rummy Olivo, among others and looking into the history of the big screen we have that its lyrics were the inspiration of a novel written that was taken to the screens in Colombia, which the lyrics of his song also have a version.

The Venezuelan plains, full of so many tales, myths and legends, was also the inspiration for this great composer to recreate the story of a wild mare that everyone wanted to tame and have because of her beauty.

La potra Zaina pertenece al Álbum LP (Discos de vinil) Campesina del extinto grupo musical Los Torrealberos, cuyo lanzamiento fue en el año 1959, es una fabulosa pieza musical llanera perteneciente al folclor venezolano, nos invita a disfrutar del llano venezolano y su vida salvaje en todo su esplendor.

Su melodía y su letra es tan hermosa que ha sido interpretada por muchos cantantes entre ellos Amin castellanos, Rummy Olivo, entre otros y escudriñando en la la historia de la gran pantalla tenemos que sus letras fueron inspiración de una novela escrita que fue llevada a las pantallas en Colombia, la cual las letras de su canción también tienen una versión.

El llano venezolano, cargado de tantos cuentos, mitos y leyendas que también fue la inspiración de este gran compositor en recrear la historia de una yegua salvaje que todos querían domar y tener por su hermosura.
