Share Your Battle Challenge | Get Stuck by the Lava Web of the Lava Spider!

Greetings to everyone in the Hive Community. It is a privilege to join another challenge created by the Splinterlands team that gives great opportunity to players such as myself to learn strategical battles while bringing income by playing video games especially in the blockchain gaming community.

For the latest Share Your Battle Challenge, the featured monster to be used is from the latest pack edition which is the Chaos Legion Edition. The monster featured for this week is the Lava Spider, a range type damage monster from the fire attribute and a common grade monster that has a low mana summon cost.

The featured battle is in the Diamond League making the chosen monsters on the max level. I also created a video on 3Speak so that you can watch the battle and enjoy it.

Weak Magic: Magic attacks hits armor before reducing health.
Melee Mayhem: Melee attack monsters can attack from any position.

POSITIONING STRATEGY

Because Lava Spider is a range type damager and most of my rentals for the daily battle were composed of range type monsters, I choose Yodin Zaku as the summoner. It has the ability to give +1 health and Blast ability to all its summoned monsters and +1 range damage to summoned range type monsters.

First Position is for the Serpentine Soldier. A rare grade monster on the max level and has a stats of 6 speed, 3 melee damage, 1 armor, and 7 health. It is a good tank due to its Shield ability which reduces the damage it receives. There is a high chance of evading enemy attacks thanks to its Dodge Ability. With the Thorns ability, it gives a melee damage when attacked by another melee type monster.

Second in the position is the Molten Ash Golem. Another rare grade monster from the Chaos Legion edition. On its max level, it has a stats of 2 speed, 3 range damage, and 10 health. It reduces the health of the enemy thanks to the Weaken ability. It also reduces the Melee damage of the enemy monsters due to the Demoralize ability. With the Close Range ability, even if it is a range type monster in the first position, it can still cause a damage to the enemy, making it a good reserve tank.

The third position is for the Goblin Shaman. A common grade monster on the max level has the stats of 4 speed, 1 magic damage, and 6 health. I choose this monster to reduce the health and speed of the enemy monsters thanks to its Weaken and Slow ability.

Fourth position is the Lord of Fire. A legendary grade monster on the max level has s stats of 2 speed, 1 range damage, and 4 health. It gives additional health to its allies, reduces the magic damage of the enemy monsters, Inflicts poison damage to the target enemy, and removes the armor of the target enemy. I always choose this monster after the Goblin Shaman.

Fifth in the position is the featured monster which is the Lava Spider. A common grade on the max level has the stats of 4 speed, 2 range damage, and 6 health. It has the Snipe ability in the first level, Snare ability in the 6th level which is good to choose in the Earthquake ruleset, and Poison ability that inflicts poison damage when acquired by the enemy.

Last in the position is the Halfling Alchemist. An epic grade monster on the max level has a stats of 2 speed, 2 range damage, 1 armor, and 3 health. With its Halving ability, it reduces the enemy damage of the monster when it receives its attack. I mostly choose it and place it in the last position due to its Redemption ability that causes 1 melee damage to all enemy monsters when it is defeated, serving as the sacrificial defense for the battle.

DID MY STRATEGY WORK?

My strategy efficiently worked. Thanks to the Redemption ability of the Halfling Alchemist, it instantly removed the Holy Protection given by the enemy summoner fully utilizing the abilities of my chosen summoner to its summons especially the range damagers. Because the enemy choose to go all out in melee type monsters, choosing the Molten Ash Golem is a good choice of mine because it reduced the melee attack of the enemy. With the Shatter ability of the Lord of Fire, it instantly removed the armor of the Shieldbearer making it unable to last longer in the battle. Even though the Lava Spider didn't last in the battle, it still contributed enough damage to enemy monsters.

DO YOU OFTEN USE THE LAVA SPIDER?

Lava Spider is one of the cards that I usually rent when I'm going to play the game. Because of its low mana call cost, it is a good monster to choose in low mana battles, and little league ruleset. It is also a good monster to use in the Earthquake ruleset because of the Snare Ability, removing the fly ability of the enemy monsters so that it can cause a melee damage after every round in the ruleset.

There are many possibilities in strategy in terms of using the Lava Spider and I hope that everyone who is reading the blog and watching the video could learn something from the battle.
