4TIPS en HIVE: 3/4 vs. 6/8 ¿cuál es la diferencia? (Esp – Eng)

En esta ocasión vengo a estrenar esta sección denominada “4TIPS en HIVE” , donde estaré compartiendo curiosidades, vivencias, aprendizajes, retos en torno a un instrumento típico del Folclore Venezolano como lo es el “CUATRO”.

De pronto tienes un CUATRO colgado en una de las paredes de tu casa, y de vez en cundo es tu compañero para amenizar una tarde. Quizás escuchas una “PERIQUERA” , un “SEIS POR DERECHO” y se despierta en TI la curiosidad de saber la diferencia entre estos golpes representativos de la música Venezolana. Y es por eso que me he inspirado en crear esta sección, comenzando con el estudio de la diferencia entre el compás 3/4 y el compás 6/8, enmarcada esta diferencia en la ejecución rítmica en el CUATRO. En ese sentido a fin de complementar las ideas expuestas en el recurso audiovisual tenemos que el ritmo que define al compás 3 /4 es :

Las flechas de color “rojo” representan “chasquidos” al momento de ejecutar el ritmo, por eso es importante que veas el recurso audiovisual. Una curiosidad que se deriva de acá, y que aprendí de mi maestro y tío Justiniano Santana, es que si esto lo ejecutamos lento, entraría dentro del ritmo “VALS” y si lo hacemos rápido damos la bienvenida al “JOROPO” , en donde dependiendo las combinaciones armónicas que se realicen damos la bienvenida a diferentes ritmos, como por ejemplo “PERIQUERA”, “MERECURE” , entre otros. En cuanto al compás 6/8 tenemos lo siguiente:

A diferencia del 3 / 4 acá el “chasquido” lo hacemos en el primer golpe, y esto es base para ritmos característicos de la música venezolana como “SEIS POR DERECHO”, “PAJARILLO”. Muchos CUATRISTAS califican a este ritmo marcado por el compás 6/8 de “ATRAVESAO”.

On this occasion I come to premiere this section called "4TIPS in HIVE", where I will be sharing curiosities, experiences, learning, challenges around a typical instrument of Venezuelan Folklore as is the "CUATRO".

Suddenly you have a CUATRO hanging on one of the walls of your house, and from time to time it is your companion to liven up an afternoon. Maybe you hear a "PERIQUERA", a "SEIS POR DERECHO" and it awakens in YOU the curiosity to know the difference between these representative hits of Venezuelan music. And that is why I have been inspired to create this section, starting with the study of the difference between the 3/4 and 6/8 time, framed this difference in the rhythmic execution in the CUATRO. In that sense in order to complement the ideas exposed in the audiovisual resource we have that the rhythm that defines the measure 3 /4 is :

The "red" arrows represent "clicks" at the moment of executing the rhythm, that is why it is important that you see the audiovisual resource. A curiosity that derives from here, and that I learned from my teacher and uncle Justiniano Santana, is that if we execute it slow, it would enter into the "VALS" rhythm and if we do it fast we welcome the "JOROPO", where depending on the harmonic combinations that are made we welcome different rhythms, such as "PERIQUERA", "MERECURE", among others. As for the measure 6/8 we have the following:

Unlike the 3 / 4 here the "snapping" is done on the first beat, and this is the basis for characteristic rhythms of Venezuelan music such as "SEIS POR DERECHO", "PAJARILLO". Many CUATRISTAS qualify this rhythm marked by the 6/8 time signature as "ATRAVESAO".
