In this tournament I had the opportunity to participate, there were 05 arduous rounds of which I was able to win 03 and draw 02, achieving 04 points of the 05 possible points, the same score of the second place, only that by tiebreaker systems I was seventh, here is an extract of the final table of results:
In future publications I will be addressing this very interesting topic in chess tournaments under the Swiss system, such as the tiebreaker systems. As for now, I will share with you what for me was the most exciting game of the event, as well as comment on the key moments of my performance.
This game starred by Ponce Dario (bench pieces) and Manuel Aguilar (black pieces), gives us a very nice combination in which Ponce gives up his queen, leaving the black pieces with no other option but to accept this sacrifice.
Now, if we detail the position we have that this sacrifice has a lot of compensation, since once the black side captures the queen, the white rooks will penetrate dangerously to the eighth rank. However, in the development of the game, little Ponce did not know how to manage the material advantage he obtained in exchange for giving up his queen, and the game ended in a draw.
My performance in this tournament was quite good, since I scored 04 points out of 05 possible points. For the first round I arrived 20 minutes late, so the opening approach I had to do it a bit fast. My opponent was a boy of 05 years old, with an incredible maturity at the board.
This position of the image 03 was reached, where due to time pressure I withdrew my queen to the square "c2", giving the opportunity to little Samin to make the move "c5", fortunately he did not do it and I could materialize my plan to reach a rook endgame with a pawn advantage, in which I ended up winning. It was quite an interesting game where I was impressed by the talent of little Samin.
In this second game I managed to get a pawn advantage from the opening, and that made me feel quite comfortable for the rest of the game, since my black pieces were always very active; let's say that the position of image 04 is my dream position whenever I play these Indian schemes. Already with two consecutive victories, it was to be expected a quite strong opponent for the third round, and indeed it was so, I had to face little Alvaro Rosas, 12 years old.
This boy has had important results at the Peruvian level, and it was an honor for me to have this confrontation. One of the qualities of young Alvaro Rosas is that he plays fast and precise. The most instructive moment in this game occurred precisely in the opening, where I, with white pieces, should have made the decision to define a pawn structure and eliminate the central tension. However, these ideas did not pass my mind at that moment, and I began to maneuver with the knights, reaching a somewhat equal position where we agreed a draw, which was a great result.
Already somewhat mentally exhausted, in the fourth round I faced the young Luana Herrera, a fairly strong player who with white pieces did not hesitate to make an avalanche of pawns, an attack from which I could defend myself by raising an attack initiative with my black queen, as you can see in the position of the image 06, I had the opportunity to enter with my queen to the g3 square, however I did not do it for fear of "g5" by white, and due to the short time on the clock I preferred to repeat the position. Finally, in the last round fatigue took its toll, and I committed a strong inaccuracy against the young Ahajuana Darien:
Fortunately I was lucky that my opponent did not capture the "d4" pawn and I was able to reach an interesting position, in which I ended up winning, thus achieving the 04 points.
On this occasion I had the honor to share with the sisters Cielo and Nedy a pleasant conversation in which they talk about the benefits of chess in education, at the same time that these two little girls extend the invitation to the children to practice the science sport, that is to say, Chess.
It is really beautiful to see the children assume with so much maturity, responsibility and commitment the fact of practicing chess, from here I extend my words of congratulations to the representatives of these girls, for the effort they make to support them.
And for me a chess tournament is like a party, I want to share some pictures taken by Professor Miguel Calla, organizer of the event, and who assisted me in this task of taking pictures:
Undoubtedly a beautiful experience, and I am very happy to share it on the HIVE blockchain through this section of Noticiero FullDeportivo. I invite you to watch the audiovisual resource at the beginning. And I would like to have your feedback in the comments section about this production. See you next time.
