Y a propósito del cumpleaños número 04 de la comunidad deportiva de HIVE como lo es FullDeportes, lo celebro trayendo una publicación de la sección del noticiero FullDeportivo enalteciendo la disciplina del SCRABBLE, en esta ocasión entrevistando nada mas y nada menos que a un atleta del top mundial del SCRABBLE Español, una disciplina que estoy difundiendo como deporte emergente, en una anterior publicación realicé un abordaje de esa hermosa misión, hacer que el SCRABBLE sea cada vez mas conocido como un disciplina deportiva, un deporte mental, y que mejor manera de hacerlo que entrevistando al mejor atleta de SCRABBLE del Perú y además top 30 de mundo, se trata del maestro Carlos Vera.

And about the birthday number 04 of the HIVE sports community as it is FullDeportes, I celebrate it by bringing a publication of the FullDeportivo news section extolling the discipline of SCRABBLE, this time interviewing nothing more and nothing less than an athlete of the Spanish SCRABBLE world top, a discipline that I am spreading as an emerging sport, in a previous publication I made an approach of that beautiful mission, to make the SCRABBLE more and more known as a sport discipline, a mental sport, and what better way to do it than interviewing the best SCRABBLE athlete in Peru and also top 30 in the world, this is the master Carlos Vera.

Carlos Vera es líder del SCRABBLE Club Perú, actualmente se encuentra en Lima, acotando que yo estoy en Arequipa (18 horas tiempo entre ciudades, vía terrestre) por eso la interacción se realizó online vía plataforma Google Meet, aprovechando la tecnología para romper las barreras de la distancia, es importante señalar que la receptividad de Carlos fue bonita así como la de todos los miembros del SCRABBLE Club Perú. La primera parte de esta amena interacción, aparte de conocer el rostro del SCRABBLE Peruano, la he enfocado en aspectos estratégicos del juego, enfocando la atención en esos aspectos que se fueron dando conforme jugaba una partida de SCRABBLE con el maestro Carlos, a través de la plataforma de ISC (Internet Scrabble Club).

Carlos Vera is the leader of the SCRABBLE Club Peru, he is currently in Lima, I am in Arequipa (18 hours time between cities, by land) so the interaction was done online via Google Meet platform, taking advantage of technology to break the barriers of distance, it is important to note that the receptivity of Carlos was nice as well as that of all members of SCRABBLE Club Peru. The first part of this pleasant interaction, apart from getting to know the face of Peruvian SCRABBLE, I focused on strategic aspects of the game, focusing attention on those aspects that came up as I played a game of SCRABBLE with the master Carlos, through the ISC (Internet Scrabble Club) platform.

En la partida que disputamos hice la palabra TARRA, y el maestro Carlos nos explica la técnica de los “Enganches”, es decir, él en su turno usa las letras resaltadas por el recuadro de color negro, planteando en primera instancia la palabra “EH”, pero al mismo tiempo forma la palabra ETARRA y la palabra HE, sin lugar a dudas, una jugada maestra. Como pueden apreciar, se trata de armar ´palabras este hermoso juego, en esta mi primera publicación de SCRABBLE para la comunidad abordo también las ideas del mismo, que en esencia es armar palabras, ahora bien en el proceso que estas se están armando, el atleta puede consultar la existencia de una determinada palabra.

As you can see, it is about putting together 'words' this beautiful game, in this my first publication of SCRABBLE for the community I also address the ideas of the same, which in essence is to assemble words, now well in the process that these are being assembled, the athlete can consult the existence of a particular word.

Por ejemplo, los nombres propios no se pueden usar, pero hay excepciones como por ejemplo la palabra “PERU”, y esto por la expresión “VALES UN PERU”, como se aprecia en esta captura del diccionario de la RAE, en definitiva el SCRABBLE es un reto a la memoria, para cada día ir aprendiendo mas palabras de interés, y por supuesto esto repercute en el enriquecimiento de nuestro léxico, lo cual es una interesante invitación a practicar esta disciplina. Una disciplina deportiva realmente exigente, y dado que conversamos con un maestro de la misma, aproveché la oportunidad de preguntarle consejos para iniciar una partida.

Por ejemplo en la partida que comenzamos yo inicié con la palabra RUES, sin embargo Carlos aconseja que hay que usar la mayor cantidad de letras al inicio, en todo caso antes de armar una palabra tan corta, era mejor cambiar de letras (lo cual es permitido) y esperar el turno siguiente. Esta jugada inicial que fue dudosa, permitió a Carlos armar un SCRABBLE, que le confiere un bono de 50 puntos extras con la palabra CREPITE, esto es una situación especial dado que acá el jugador usa las 07 fichas de su atril.

Y allí la estrategia en el SCRABBLE, Carlos nos cuenta que no solo es sumar y sumar puntos, es necesario buscar cerrarle el juego al máximo a nuestro oponente, tratar de dejarlo sin opciones. Y en torno a esta temática de estrategia en SCRABBLE, en el juego existen unas fichas muy originales, se trata de los COMODINES; unas fichas que no tienen letra, es decir, pueden adoptar cualquier letra en la partida, esa que estratégicamente el jugador que lo posee decida, y a pesar que el COMODÍN no tiene valor numérico son muy útiles en el armado de palabras.

And around this theme of strategy in SCRABBLE, in the game there are some very original tokens, these are the COMODINES; some tokens that have no letter, that is, they can adopt any letter in the game, the one that strategically the player who owns it decides, and although the COMODINE has no numerical value, they are very useful in the assembly of words.

De las 100 fichas solo hay dos comodines y Carlos nos explica que en su experiencia él solo usa el comodín si la palabra le arroja por lo mínimo 40 puntos, interesante consejo para los que estamos iniciando en esta disciplina. Finalmente, ya para cerrar esta interacción en torno a la jugabilidad, es importante saber como se cierra una partida de SRABBLE. En esencia, si a los jugadores le quedaron letras, las letras de cada jugador se restan a su puntaje. Ahora bien, si uno de los jugadores acabó con sus fichas, el jugador que le quedaron fichas en su atril, se le resta el puntaje de dichas fichas, y a parte ese puntaje se le suma al oponente, interesante aspecto que puede desequilibrar el resultado final.
