    Hola a todos, espero que todos estén teniendo un buen día en la comunidad. En este momento les traigo mi participación en el festival de música folclórica en la semana n° 8, con el bello vals "Dama Antañona" del compositor Francisco de Paula.

    Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having a good day in the community. At this moment I bring you my participation in the folk music festival in week 8, with the beautiful waltz "Dama Antañona" by the composer Francisco de Paula.

    Este maravilloso vals, se presentó en los mejores teatros de la Caracas de principios del siglo XX, y hoy podemos decir que se ha inmortalizado en nuestra bella tradición. El vals proveniente de Europa, llegó a Venezuela durante el siglo XIX, y desde ese momento impactó a toda la sociedad aristócrata del país, pasando por un proceso de "criollización" y convirtiéndose en el preferidos de las salas más importantes de la ciudad capital.

    This wonderful waltz was presented in the best theaters in Caracas at the beginning of the 20th century, and today we can say that it has been immortalized in our beautiful tradition. The waltz from Europe arrived in Venezuela during the 19th century, and from that moment on it impacted the entire aristocratic society of the country, going through a process of "creolization" and becoming the favorite of the most important venues in the capital city.

    A pesar que durante toda esta época se elaboraron un sin fin de valses, Dama Antañona es uno de los que quedaron plasmados en la identidad de no solo el caraqueño, si no de todo una nación que vive el recuerdo de toda una sociedad colonial. Particularmente, cuando escucho este y otros valses venezolanos, me traslado a la imagen de una ciudad de techos rojos, apodo que recibe nuestra bella Caracas.

    Despite the fact that during all this time an endless number of waltzes were made, Dama Antañona is one of those who were embodied in the identity of not only the people of Caracas, but of an entire nation that lives the memory of an entire colonial society. In particular, when I listen to this and other Venezuelan waltzes, I am moved to the image of a city with red roofs, a nickname that our beautiful Caracas receives.
