Oh!!! This video was super fun to make and tasty to eat! hahahahaha
I did it. I gave the highest place of honor in my garden, and wow - that was quite a memorable experience AND a brand new recipe that I'll be keeping forever!
Do you get the BEST results from a recipe when you kinda just wing it??? hahahaha
That's what I did for this recipe! I grabbed some things from the cupboard and just kinda put it all together. hahaha The only bad thing about this??? Can you DUPLICATE the recipe next time?
This one was pretty simple - so I think it will be an easy recipe to have again and again!
For the fried green tomatoes - this is BY FAR one of the things I miss the most, being gluten free.
So - it was a REAL delight having these - and they DID NOT AT ALL taste gluten free. This is no small feat, as most glutenfreekers will tell you heeheheh. But trust me - this is one that you'll want for your recipe book!!!
So let me just give you a quick heads up!
Now, I used the sour cream in the egg wash because when you're making GF breading on things, it tends to have a different texture that can get a little soggy. So I thickened up the egg wash with sour cream, and it was almost like a very loose yogurt consistency.
Dredge the tomato slices (cut at about 1/4 inch slice - or as you like!) in the GF flour lightly
Drop into the thickened egg wash. I used 1 egg and maybe 2-3 tbsp of sour cream? Coat it well so that its a nice batter.
Finish by dropping into the GF fried onions. You COULD crush these - but I left whole for that nice texture and it worked PERFECTLY.
Of course, you can do ALL of this with the non-GF versions - I'm sure it would taste the same!!! DELISH!
To see how it all came out, feel free to watch the video and please don't mind my mmmmmmmmm at the end. hehehehe it was JUST. THAT. GOOD. hehehe and how else can you enjoy a meal if you don't moan in culinary delight?!!?!
Thanks for watching!
