I took this video when I was at an event, commemorating a disaster that had occurred in my country.
On December 26, we still commemorate the earthquake and tsunami that occurred 17 years ago, the Aceh Tsunami in 2004 has always been a topic of discussion, starting from the height of the water waves, massive damage, and many casualties. The tsunami that devastated parts of Aceh occurred within 30 minutes, with a height of up to 30 meters and a speed of up to 360 kilometers per hour. As a result, more than 120,000 people died in the disaster.
At the event, several performances were held, including the group I saw doing sound checks at the event. They did a sound check at the beginning of the event.
I took the time to record their performances, because for me this group is very unique, they play the concept of musical poetry where in a work there is a musical performance accompanied by the reading of a poem.
In that performance they combine traditional music with modern music. They play the Sitar which originates from India and is combined with a very melodious classical violin. The sound of the two is truly impressive when combined. The Sitar musical instrument which is a combination of guitar and violin is very pleasant to hear. The sitar is a family of harp musical instruments that are played by picking. Its unique shape makes it a distinctive and unique musical instrument. The long neck and hollow body of the gourd produce rich resonance and harmony.
The sitar is the dominant instrument used in Hindustani classical music and is played as an accompaniment to dances in India. The sitar has actually been around since the 1800s. This tool was brought from Middle Eastern people who migrated to India. This instrument is used to play classical traditional music in India.
The music they bring is like a spell that is very hypnotizing for those who hear it . They used to bring the music at the beginning of a traditional event, and other big events. Hopefully this sound can hypnotize all of you, enjoy the sound.
