    About :

    ENG:

    A cordial musical greeting.

This week for Open Mic I bring you this song titled Amparito by Ricardo Portillo who is one of the greatest exponents of the gaitero genre in Zulia, which was successful at the time and is still playing.

Portillo was born on October 16, 1943, in the neighborhood of Santa Lucia. At home, the composer listened to his mother Laura de Jesús Portillo Acosta singing tangos, a fact that initiated him in the musical world playing cuatro. To his mother he has dedicated countless songs that make your skin crawl, such as 'Madre es madre' (Mother is mother).

Before becoming known as one of the best, Portillo was in groups such as Los Vegueros and Los Sandungueros. In 1967 he joined Rincón Morales as a cuatrista and by the end of the decade he joined Los Cardenales del Éxito. In the mid 70's he joined the Venezuelan super band Guaco, with his friend and composer Simón García.

In '77 came his international recognition with 'Amparito', a fusion of cumbia with tamborera, a song inspired by a Colombian who participated in the Miss Colombia contest, named Amparo Nuñez.
Here then, goes my presentation, with love....
