Hive Open Mic Week 152 (Traditional music) - GALERÓN ORIENTAL - Cover mandolin.

Un cordial saludo musical.

La temática de esta semana es "Música tradicional", por supuesto es un tema que me encanta y felicito a @bertrayo por esta selección.

Hay una diferencia entre la música tradicional y la música típica, y es que la primera no tiene autor y la segunda si tiene autor, por ejemplo: El pajarillo, un joropo o golpe de Venezuela no tiene autor, es decir que es música tradicional, en cambio Caballo Viejo es del compositor Simón Díaz, es música típica

El Galerón es una de las expresiones culturales más importantes de la música popular de Venezuela, y aunque se ha extendido por todo el país, su influencia es más fuerte en la región oriental, donde es acompañado por instrumentos como la mandolina oriental, el bandolín, el cuatro y la guitarra.

Esta manifestación cultural se hace presente en fiestas típicas y celebraciones populares como el ofrecimiento a la Santa Cruz, la Virgen del Valle y otros santos de tradicional devoción, en los estados Nueva Esparta, Sucre, Anzoátegui, Monagas y Bolívar.

El Galerón es un ritmo de compás lento interpretado por varios cantantes que se van alternando, creando una especie de contrapunteo. El término Galerón data del año 1625, cuando el rey español Felipe IV ordenó la celebración de una fiesta en todos sus reinos por la llegada de la armada de los galeones a Cádiz.

En cualquier lugar del país donde se interprete el Galerón, el cantador utiliza la décima o espinela como forma poética de la estrofa, la cual puede versar sobre historia, biología, amores, astronomía y, generalmente, sobre la veneración profesada a lo divino. Dependiendo de la ubicación geográfica, variará el ritmo, la forma de cantar y la incorporación del baile.

Los cantadores y músicos se reúnen desde horas de la noche hasta la madrugada para festejar al ritmo del canto del Galerón. Para iniciar el canto, los instrumentistas realizan un preludio a partir del cual el cantador comienza su improvisación sobre el tema de su preferencia, jugando con su creatividad y su tesitura para intentar desprestigiar a su oponente contrapunteador. El Galerón es una tradición musical que sigue viva y vigente en la cultura popular venezolana.

En esta oportunidad te presento mi versión del Galerón Oriental con mucha improvisación.

There is a difference between traditional music and typical music, and that is that the former has no author while the latter does. For example, "El Pajarillo," a joropo or golpe from Venezuela, has no author, which means it is traditional music, whereas "Caballo Viejo" is by composer Simón Díaz and is typical music.

"Galerón" is one of the most important cultural expressions of popular music in Venezuela, and although it has spread throughout the country, its influence is strongest in the eastern region, where it is accompanied by instruments such as the oriental mandolin, bandolin, cuatro, and guitar.
