    Rodnell.

    ENG:

    A cordial musical greeting.

This week for Open Mic I present a Venezuelan merengue entitled La Ceci by Cristóbal Soto, one of the mandolin players I have admired the most for a long time. He is the founder of the Ensamble Gurrufío, in which he was for many years, he separated from the group for a long time, unofficial sources tell me that Cristobal had to do it because he had to organize the works of his father, the great sculptor and kinetic artist Jesus Soto, there is also a version that he went to France to receive mandolin lessons and it turns out that he was left as a teacher! I found out about this when years ago I went to a concert in Valencia, Carabobo state where the ensemble Gurrufío performed, I was very excited because I was going to see live my idol of the mandolin and when the curtain opened it turned out that Cristobal was not there, I waited until more than half of the concert hoping that he would appear but it was not so and in one of the pauses I shouted from my chair to the guys in the group: - And Cristobal...? The master quartet player Cheo Hurtado answered me: - He is in Paris. Then I had the opportunity to go to the dressing room where they were and they gave me more details, confirming that he was no longer going to be in the group.
Regarding this merengue, I have had the joy and honor of having accompanied the sweet and beautiful voice of the great Venezuelan singer Cecilia Todd on several occasions and one day in a rehearsal it occurred to me to ask her about the title of this song and she told me that Cristobal had composed it for her, this also confirmed what I had imagined for a long time.
So, I give you this beautiful merengue with love,
    Rodnell.
