After a couple of weeks full of matches with national selections, the European football clubs are back once again. This weekend, Real Madrid had a match against Osasuna, which is a team enjoying a terrific start of the season and is currently in position 6, much higher than their average position.

It was a very even match, with Osasuna playing even better than Real Madrid during short periods of time and the final result of 1-1 was certainly a deserved one in my opinion.

Real Madrid's attacks were composed by Vinicius, Benzema, and Rodrygo from the beginning of the match, but the collective performance of the team was very disappointing. There were a lot of imprecise passes and dribbling, which made it impossible for the team to successfully finish most of their attacking plays. This was most likely Real Madrid's worst match of the season, and I don't think it is a coincidence it happened right after a 2 week period full of national selection matches.

Real Madrid could have easily won this match with a penalty kick around the 75 minute mark, but Benzema missed it by sending the ball straight to the post. This player has been suffering from a lack of proper performance during the season, and now he just recovered from an injury so things hasn't been easy for him so far, but missing a penalty on such a challenging match is very hard to justify. Especially because the penalty didn't even go inside the net.

The following weeks are going to be very busy for many European football clubs with 2 matches every week for those participating in European competitions, so it is very likely we will see many teams doing important rotations. This horrible match against Osasuna might be quickly forgotten if the team manages to obtain some victories in their next matches.
