Esto va para cualquier persona que esté comenzando a hacer fotos de manera profesional: Hagan un contrato. No importa que sea pequeño, les va a ayudar a solucionar problemas en el futuro. Esta semana le hice una sesión de fotos a una banda de rock en caracas y tuvo un pequeño inconveniente con ellos. Ellos me llamaron para hacer un retrato y se logró el trabajo. No hice ningún contrato porque no creí que fuera necesario. Era un trabajo pequeño, entre amigos y no sentí la necesidad de cubrirme las espaldas. ERROR. Luego de que les entregue todas las fotos editadas, listas, hermosas, increíbles el pana me pidió los archivos RAW. De una le dije que se cobra extra por eso y el el pana se indignó.

This week I did a photo shoot for a rock band in Caracas and had a small inconvenience with them. They called me to do a portrait and the job was successful. After I delivered all the edited, ready, beautiful, amazing photos, the guy asked me for the RAW files. I immediately said that there is an extra charge for that and the guy got upset.

En la fotografía es raro que se entreguen los archivos originales por multiples razones. Como el trabajo no esta terminado las fotos no lucen bien y que estén acompañados por nuestro nombre puede generar un problema. Otro motivo son los derechos intelectuales sobre la foto, una vez que das los originales, despídanse de futuras regalías etc... La cosa es que la discusión escaló y no tengo ni idea de si afecto nuestra relación, pero me mantuve firme de mi lado del campo. Todo esto se pudo haber evitado con un pedazo de papel especificando que no se entregan los archivos originales: Solo las ediciones finales.

In photography, it is rare to deliver the original files for multiple reasons. Since the work is not completed, the photos do not look good and being accompanied by our name can generate a problem. The thing is that the discussion escalated and I have no idea if it affected our relationship, but I stood my ground on my side of the field. All of this could have been avoided with a piece of paper specifying that the original files are not delivered: Only the final edits.
