Don Genaro Prieto escribió este joropo en un viaje imaginario sobre una mula, realizando un recorrido por todo el estado Apure. la sincronía de ese paseo es tan exacta que los poblados que visita en su canción están seguidos uno de otro sin perder el rumbo perfecto de todos ellos. Representa, no solo para su municipio, sino para todo el estado, una referencia musical que interpretan orgullosos los apureños. Su composición le ha dado la vuelta al mundo junto a importantes exponentes como Ensamble Gurrufío, Moisés Torrealba, Cheo Hurtado, El Cuarteto y Grupo 4. se presume que haya realizado mas de 300 composiciones. Ha recibido innumerables reconocimientos y homenajes de parte de sus coterráneos y amigos. Es considerado por la comunidad como un maestro de la música y la poesía, así como un ejemplo de moral y buenas costumbres.

Don Genaro Prieto wrote this joropo on an imaginary trip on a mule, taking a tour of the entire Apure state. the timing of this walk is so exact that the towns that he visits in his song are followed one another without losing the perfect direction of all of them.
