The balancing act ⚖️🎭

There is no doubt that my routine throughout the week is extremely productive. I have a slot of several hours each morning where I am able to record, edit, design, and write for my daily videos on Hive. Even with doing all of that, I still somehow have time for many other things.

The weekends are a slightly different story. Although there is still some time, I also have other things that I wish to do and it is stuff that I typically am not doing through the week.

Let me explain...

My girlfriend @flowerbaby is usually off of work during the weekends, so I spend most of my time with her. She doesn't like to wake up quite as early as me, which means she also likes to stay up later. I love getting up at 6:30 am every day and then having all morning to work, but I also feel terrible being ready to fall asleep by 10 pm on the nights when we are together. We usually get into things together throughout the day and spend time relaxing during the evening by watching a movie or tv show together.

My videos usually take me from around 4 or 5 hours to finish. A lot of that time is spent adding various custom graphics that I design, video clips, or maybe some funny gifs. I could easily cut down how long it takes for me to produce a solid video by not adding all of that extra flair. Some may enjoy it and others might find it annoying. I personally really like the added personal touch and I think it provides more enjoyment and insight about the things I choose to talk about each day.

With that being said, I think I can still offer a really good video without all of the extra stuff.

This is what I plan to do on the weekends to allow myself more time with the ones I love. I will still be putting all of the pizzaz into my video through the week, but the ones on the weekend will be slightly less fancy.

Hopefully, you will find a way to enjoy my content either way and I think that being transparent about this rather than just being randomly inconsistent is important.

This will all come into play even more whenever I go on my next one-week vacation from August 5-12. This time I am headed to Ocean City, MD with my girlfriend, parents, and my brother and his fiance. We will have a few dogs with us too. Really anytime that I'm traveling I will have to find a way to adjust my videos.

I have contemplated what I will do in terms of content while I am gone. I have a few options:

1️⃣ Keep posting as usual and spend too much time working rather than with my family.
2️⃣ Don't post at all while I'm gone.
3️⃣ Post every other day and spend half as much time each morning with my work.
4️⃣ Post low-quality junk that is easy.
5️⃣ Get a bunch of videos finished before I leave and schedule them to post on their own.
6️⃣ Keep posting daily but make my videos much more concise and quicker to produce.

To me, option 6️⃣ seems the best.

I do not want to miss out on having such an amazing place to record my videos on the beach each morning with the sunrise. I know I'm going to be in an even better mood than usual while there and this will enable me to craft some really awesome videos no doubt.

I won't be mad at myself if there is a morning where getting out to record and spending the time to edit my video slightly, write my post, and design my thumbnail is just too much. Some days may be busier than others. I have a feeling I will be the first to awaken each day and that will allow me to get a headstart, without spending too much time with work.

It will be difficult to resist adding a bunch of cool photos and videos from the things that we do together, but that kind of thing just takes so much time as I discussed earlier. I will most likely save up all of that kind of stuff for a recap video once I'm back at home.

Speaking of being away, I'll be stuck using my old and slow Macbook Pro while I'm gone. I've gotten so used to using my powerful M1 iMac, but I will have to deal with my slower computer in order to be able to do any work at all while I am gone.

One thing is for sure, I will not be giving up on providing quality videos for you all to watch.

Although some occasions may ask me to try to cut down the amount of time that I work, I will not ever stop completely. This stuff is part of my day and one of the many things that makes me as happy as I am. I feel accomplished each time I finish one of these and at this point, I think I may be addicted. As long as I find a way to manage this addiction, it can continue to be a healthy habit.

Let me know if this alters how you view my content OR if you are okay with not all of my videos being edited to the nines for your entertainment. I'm always willing to adjust and I want to try to do what is best for everyone here.
