Hi Hivers! How's the week? For my part, I tell you that mine is full of work and wonderful projects that I am developing.
This time I come to share a video that you will surely like very much with the so-called salon music of the 19th century in Cuba.

    A little history

At that time, the popular music that sounded through the streets of Havana was mostly the contradanza performed by musicians from the lower-middle class at meetings and parties of society. That rhythm was so popular in those days that piano scores began to be written and thus make it much more accessible. This is how popular magazines and publications enabled some of their pages to include scores of contradanzas and dances written for piano. These were mainly aimed at female audiences with some musical talents who regularly delighted their social circle at meetings and gatherings of the middle class.

A few years ago, thanks to the exhaustive work of several musicologists such as Zoila Lapique, Franchesca Perdigón and more recently Miriam Escudero, we have been able to access these musical notes that have a very particular beauty.

Without further ado, I invite you to enjoy these miniatures and I hope to see you here soon!

Hola Hivers!
